MA91CK billet turbos and weathered engines dont mix Donating Members 1,346 Member For: 12y 7m 11d Gender: Male Location: Wollongong Posted 06/08/13 10:47 PM Share Posted 06/08/13 10:47 PM Got the chance to grab one of these turbos for my car. Only problem is its external gate. I knwo it seems small but its still a 0.82 rear housing, and the power potential is similar to that of a 6266. Whats everyones thoughts, itll be going on an fg ute. To put it into perspective, its half the RRP of a GTX. I ahve no idea with this brand of turbos and hopefully someone can chime in cheers!

There is some up sides to be had with the external gate depending on your tuner's ability to control boost. Is this particular turbo coming with a vband? This will be an added cost to fit to your current manifold. You will also need to modify your dump pipe to suit, including either plumbing back the gate or running a screamer pipe.. Im sure if you factor in those cost's you will still come out in front, Maybe the 6235 is similar to the GTX3576r? If so, would be a great upgrade for 380-400rwkw

It's a t3 4 bolt so is the rear housing. It's this or a near new f6 turbo for the same price, just wondering if it had any adv or disadvantages over each other cheers

Both running external gates. One came from spiro just before he passed and the other source unknown but it looked the same as the DLM. The car with the precision turbo - a FG spun 360 rwkw at 18psi. The GTX car was a BF and spun 340rwkw at 17psi. Both vehicle's have been on the same dyno. Both owners are now looking to change the rear housing setups. Im not smart enough nor have I seen these gates myself to understand the issues but the tuner involved (one car was one he did and the other came in from another shop) is pretty confident this housing setup was bad. Same dyno has seen other GTX equipped cars run over 400rwkw several times using modified factory rear housings retaining the internal gate and a couple of external gate setups with the factor housing modded properly. Whats the RRP on the precision? Joe from CMS does the GTX for $1600 minus rear housing

I have the opportunity to get an f6 turbo for 800, I'll just do that it's easy Haha. I just thought it might be a good option if it spooled quickly! Was like 1150 fitted up to my supplied housings. I love the thing.

That sounds good. So it bolts into your fg turbo? Does it fit in the 0.5 cover,

I have a 0.7 on mine. Hasn't yet made much more than a F6 turbo (made 380rwkw with turbo side intake on 19psi) but that was using vortex fuel and not a lot of timing. Going back shortly with some BP fuel, should take a bit more timing and going to add a little more boost. Vevapower and welshy recommended this turbo to me and im glad they did
