Guys driving home last night from work something hit my bonnet...not sure what it was, there was no other cars in front of me, and the cars on the other side of the road were stationary in traffic.

Somehow something...could have been a meteorite for all I know...came out of nowhere and impacted my bonnet...

You guys think I will need to get the whole bonnet resprayed for this?

Or is there some way to repair the chip and blend in the paint with the rest of the bonnet...

Anyone had any experience with this type of stuff?

All you can do is either use touch up paint and build it back up a bit then polish it to try blend it in.

Otherwise full respray! They can't just repsray a section and blend properly. I asked plenty of panel beaters and none of them will do it cause it'l look sh*t

Unfortunate though for you!

Jesus that's no good mate..

Looks like it's actually dented the bonnet? or is that just the reflection? Most panel beaters I know won't blend on the panel they work on.. Instead they blend the surrounding panels.. that's my bit of knowledge..

But I only started reading your thread because I saw Cop and Chip in the title..

I've had one of those paintless dent companies do some pretty good work on my 350Z. At first they said that they didn't want to do a horizontal panel because the dust can settle and looks sh*t- hence they don't want to put their name to the job.

After some persuasion I got the guy to do a horizontal panel and it came out looking mint. I was genuinely surprised how flawless it looked (so was he).

It cost a few hundred so depends how much it would cost you to do a full respray, but there will be filler and sanding involved either way I would imagine. Good luck!

I have few very minor chips on the bonnet - all panel guys spoken to say it is a re-spray. The "chips" go with the "meatpie" who dropped a steel can on the passengers side front panel and gouged a hunk out of that. To get those a few other bits sorted is over a grand to do it well.

Yeah I will try and get some quotes to respray the whole bonnet...but sometimes what turns out to be a simple bonnet respray ends up being two front guards resprayed and possibly blended into the doors...so half the car ends up being resprayed for one measly chip on the bonnet.

I suppose it is, what it is...

Thanks for the input guys...

holy crap its looks pretty bad close up..looks like the clear is bubbling around the chipped area? if that's the case then pretty sure youll need to paint the bonnet!

Yeah it is...it has raised the clear...I can't stand to look at it...I seriously don't know what actually hit my car, or where it came from...there was no car in front of me, and opposing traffic was at a stand still...
