xr6tForMe Donating Members 275 Member For: 11y 10m 12d Gender: Male Posted 05/08/13 02:25 AM Share Posted 05/08/13 02:25 AM (edited) I tried opening the fill plug on my zf yesterday and it was REALLY tight.I am worried about stripping the socket in the plug.Does anyone have any tips for successfully removing the plug?Is it better with the gearbox hot or cold?Penetrating oil?Any tips gratefully accepted. I bought a new set of kincrome "allen key" sockets and some perpetrating oil tonight so might try again tomorrow. If you can give not a couple of whacks with a hammer and punch to shock the threads and tighten it slightly before cracking it.
