Only just saw this but you can get a 4.5BAR fuel regulator with much larger return that drops straight in for our cars and helps with the psi at idle issue.

I End putting a turbosmart reg and solved all issues, how ever I think if u remove the original reg and drill the 2mm hole out to 4mm it would have almost definitely solved the issue too

My car is getting tuned at end of month so I think I might order stage1 kit from Kev

Interesting reading this! I have the PW unit with 460 and since the tune I can smell a heap of unburnt fuel and fuel economy is pretty average compared to other tuned cars.

Also the whole unit is getting replaced thursday due to the pump making weird noises so this could be the problem but will see if I can get my tuner to check the fuel pressure and possibly look at getting a new fuel reg

As we have mentioned many times . It needs to be a full fuel system package set up to enable correct fuel pressures and flow.

The nature of most surge tank or pump only replacemant set ups do not take into account pressure vs flow vs currant draw..

Every aspect needs to be addressed eg , pressure reg , fittings , wiring etc , to give the correct pressure and flow.

These aspects being correct allows for correct and reliable tuning .

Ok

So with a surge and 460 u will almost definatly see around 80-90psi at idle which will be to high also as boost increases so does fuel pressure,so it may well put u

Over 105psi ,I fitted a reg on this morning and got 58 psi solid and then kept the gauge on for the entire run on the Dyno, and for every psi I had in boost I got the same extra fuel pressure I.e base 58+18psi boost = 76psi fuel pressure at full boost which is spot on

If you are registering 58 psi unregulated, it is spot on for the turbo models.

And correct, every pound of boost, will add to your base pressure by the same amount. Sounds like your system is set up correctly and running well.

Tbh the stage 1 fitting kit is recommended so I guess this is where that comes into play. Good to have it documented what happens when you don't take the recommendation on the reg.

Definitely has made me think twice as I guess like a lot of ppl recommended to me means meh I'm sure I can do without that and save money.

Thanks guys I'll keep an eye on pressures thursday when it hits the dyno again.

How did people go int he past with the old surge tanks and 044's? Did they ever have issues with fuel pressure?

changing the fuels operating pressure means for the tune to be correct the complete speed density calculation needs to be redone, a lot more tuning time required unless an owner is willing to accept a near enough is good enough situation
