interesting!! Privacy laws don't apply in Qld? Good thing they got the scum bag but how did you manage to get the footage without looking onto your neighbours property

None of mine look onto any neighbours property

The two front cameras cover front of house and road out the front of house footage also covers half way up the driveway of the house over the road lucky for them.

I have no problem with CCTV I wish I had neighbors with cameras on my house it would be great if half the street had them then any break in in the street would be easy to solve.

This is a good area too but on the Gold Coast break inns happen anywhere.

I did high end Security control room for 8 years so that's why I wanted them in my house I know how usefull they can be.

^^^^ if your home alarm is monitored you should get a better insurance rate or discount and just inform the insurance company that you have fitted CCTV and see if they come to the party if you don't ask you won't know.

what system are you using atm blue oval

Pacom 8 channel Linux Digital H.264 DaVinci Chipset 200 IPS CIF Recorder

It's a bit of overkill for a house has lots of functions like area specific motion recording or area specific motion playback you can have a lot of adjustment in how much motion you want to trigger event recording and how much quality you want in event recording and normal off event recording. All the settings come down to what quality picture you require for your recording and how long you want to hold recording footage.

The better quality and more motion the more recording space used the less amount of recording history that can be stored.

Most systems at the moment as standard have a 1 terabyte capacity.

What Angel bought is a good price and the right system for a house.

My system is over priced and is for 5 star hotels or buisness property's.

I couldn't help myself went over board again.

Just for the Pacom DVR it's about $1000.00

I think is Sony they have a good DVR too

did you use pacom cameras as well as the recorder?

Originally yes but after 3 years found that the Samsung one out now has better night vision so changed to them they also have a wider field of vision. I do have one new Pacom EVO on on side and it is just as good.

I was looking at getting Honeywell but we have had problems with the cameras at work losing picture and the night viewing is poor.

I'm happy with the system I got and like Blue Oval said its good for the house. Also it allows me to add a PTZ if I like to add 1 down the track
