Ok so long story short my cams have gotten mixed up and marked as opposite ie intake as exhaust and vice versa. And the motor has been assembled and I had tried to start it numerous times thinking something else was the drama. I know they are wrong as I have a set of stage 4s sitting out and know the correct location for the stage 4 s and wen compared to the ones installed the cam lobes were different at tdc.

What id like to know is could this have caused the valve to hit pistons and what other damage could or would it have done?

I'm thinking it shouldbt have but am still not 100% sure as after swapping them it started first go although running extremely rough, but was extremely fuel up obviously from being turned over and having the fuel blown back into the intake manifold.

Thanks Dan

im still trying to work it all out lol

I think as long as the cams were lined up properly, ie as if the intake and exhaust were where they normally should be, you should be right

if any of that makes sense

oh well only one way to find out!

pull all the plugs out, let it all dry off, and give it a crack in the morning

let us know how you go

everyone makes mistakes mate, its how we learn. except trent, cause he gets no seks, he cant make a mistake.

Pop the rocker cover off and have a look. refer to the pic and it should be quite easy to determing which cam is which. Not the notch in the cam and postion of the cam angle sensor triggers.

Just to clarify this isn't my doing this is how I received the head after getting it back from a having work done to it, and they have marked and installed them incorrectly.

Ralph I know that they were wrong and cld tell straight away comparing the installed cams to the ones I had out of the car. Im just trying to find out if having the cams in the wrong way has caused the valves to have seks with the piston or anything like that.

Cheers ms here's to hoping your right.

I had a car towed to me after an engine rebuild and I had to get it running, the thing would not start with my tune in it and actually shot flames out the throttle body, did some checking on cam timing, they were timed correctly but the inlet was in the exhaust position and vice versa, swapped them around, retimed them and all was ok, no damage at all
