Nice forum you have going here. plenty of good info.Im looking at selling my 5th Expensive Daewoo and moving to my first Ford. (almost hurts saying that).Im selling my SS as I need something that will tow my boat better, and the only car that fits in my power/towing/price range is the TT.Looking at a 2007 Territory Turbo Ghia AWD, I have done a fair bit of reading on them and have heard mixed reports which makes me hesitant a bit. I realise with a car that is produced in soo many numbers there is always going to be problems, But I've had a few mechanics tell me to steer clear of them after 100K?Just thought id go straight to the source and your opinions on that year model Territory? The areas of concern ive heard about have been front diff/ the diff bushes/ suspension/ ball joints/ turbos.Dont wanna make the move from Expensive Daewoo to Ford and get bitten the ass .Any help appreciated, Bring on the first turbo PhilThe turbo and engine is the same a B series so no drama there. Ball joints were part of a factory recall so if haven't been done should be able to get done through ford diff bushes are an issue but not a major drama to fix upNever heard of any issues with front diffThey are the best value performance SUV ever sold in AUS IMHO The turbo's also seem to be holding their value pretty well compared to other territories Fuel around town is a little heavy around the 16's with sane driving and the odd squirt but on the highways they eat up the k's and return around the 11's. like a famous physics man said you can not create or destroy energy so if you want HP you need to feed it

I haven't towed much with a TT but I know they can go 9l/100 on highway when tuned & debunged

Disappointing for me as on paper they are perfect for what I want.Just cant risk it with the amount of problems coming up with suspension, diff bushes, control arms, rusting, camber/alignment, oil leaks. There is issue with anything mass produced product you have to balance that with how severe and % of total built with issues and even more importantly how the manufacture deals with the issue.I bet I could find just as many bad reports on your SS Late model camira between engine oiling issues, poor tyre wear, real power well below advertised level etc

You would expect some dramas from a mass produced car.Reading through this is what makes me worry.. its a long list http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpost.php?p=375823Do you think that list justifys my concern?Cheers boys! As AussieCJ7 said the problem with forums is you'll see countless threads of whinging every time someone has a problem. Contrast that with the thousands of members that have never had major issues and have never started a thread declaring how awesome their vehicle is and you can see how it'll give you a twisted view. Buying second hand you can't be too certain about a vehicles history, but you can get some reassurance from the fact that any of those issues that could have raised their ugly heads would already be dealt with under warranty or otherwise. The territory is a brilliant vehicle, even more so with the addition of the I6 turbo. A bit thirsty when your right foot gets a bit keen but same applies to any large vehicle (and it's not really that much heavier than a falcon/commodore)

It has fantastic highway manners. Amazingly it will give me 19l/100km towing on the highway while fully loaded with 4 people and plenty of gear - and driving around the city will give about the same fuel economy with no towing and a lot less load to carry, the Missus usually uses in in the city though and a lead foot.Power is fantastic. Had a non turbo terr prior to this and it worked vwell until we bought the boat and found it worked a bit too hard on the highway, incidentally it used even more fuel when towing the same boat on the highway- consistent with the theory of how a turbo works. The 4pot front calipers are a noticeable improvement when braking hard.I'm wary of front end probs but so far no dramas, I takes solace in advice that these probs were rectified by the 09 model. There are some great deals around price wise, some 2010 models with 3 more yr warranty I notice. The equipment on board is kind of nice too with DVD player and switchable music for mum/dad up front while kids watching movies on a trip. Servicing costs from ford seem reasonable for the turbo and no evidence of slugging a premium just because its s turbo- so far anyway.

To me its more important how both the dealer and the factory deal with issues when they occur I am on my 2nd territory with the current TTG after a TX rwd version first up between the 2 of them have racked up over 160000klms and been on trips all over ranging from from Port Douglas to Adelaide with 3 kids and wife in absoute comfort even when we had to get around and a head of the qld floods a couple of years agoits a shame they are killing it off as its a great aussie touring machine and if they had of kept the turbo petrol we would have had our 3rd one by now.when you overtake a roadtrain in western qld with a turbo 6 you know the wonder of HP in a big solid car

I have the F6X which is basically a Turbo Terry and will keep it until it turns to dust! I bought it second hand in Mackay with 80k+ on the car and it had a shagged front diff bush (the front bush of the front two was hammered) but replaced and all good. My 6speed auto does have the wharr noise when cold but other than that single gearbox noise all the other issues that can arise are like a normal car!I bought it because my back is shagged and this makes it tenfold easier than the BA Turbo Sedan I still have (must sell...)I get 15.7lt around town and about 11lt or under on the highway dependent on my patience and overtaking! I really dont give two hoots about the fuel usage as its every other plus for me that means I will keep forever...Buy one as majority of people at the lights including bikes get a shock once they've been munched by Terry Tough...
