Did you go through F.A. customer service and get a rep looking after you or trying through the dealer?

I had the guy looking after me calling at real weird stages of the warranty work - like twice in the same day or 3 days after he promised to follow up the same day.

Yep have gone through ford customer service centre and have a case manager who promised to call me back, even if it was just to tell me that there was no news I would have thought that they would have the decency to call me when they promised

Yeah - mine didn't call when promised, but called about 10 times with no reason

Ford finally got back to me but with no change suggesting that a second hand engine was all they were willing to offer, I asked for it in writing and they refused.

Funny that they like the idea but not enough to give it to you in writing. Must not like the idea of that bit of paper going somewhere.

that's the right way to go about it, if they are not willing to put it in writing then they got something to hide.

Don't settle for a second hand engine, Imagine the possible bullsh*t you could go through after all the time you've spent on this.

I'd take them to court, obviously when you buy a car under new warranty, you do not expect second hand parts as replacement.
