Fun factor will be off the charts though I expect. Also as you say I'd hate it to drop a gear on me unexpectedly.

The track looks really good after the re surface. These Hoosier R7's (grooved slick radial) continue to impress. Will be the 4th track day on them. They were expensive but worth it as I have taken good care of them. Initial heat cycling and wrapping after evert track day. They slide very predictably. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=hoosier+r7&FORM=HDRSC2

As long as you went hard enough to keep them up to temp and took it easy on the first lap.

To be honest, never liked their unpredictability and squidgy feeling if that makes sense. Nothing, then everything with too much body roll for my set up. So sensitive to pressures/camber/heat cycles and generally a big headache in an 1800kg car. Always used slicks when racing my ZX7R back in the mid 90's at Amaroo and Oran Park though. Much prefer the A050's and R7's (depending on event rules) I have been using recently from an enjoyment stand point. The R7's require high pressures to work well though. PDF from Hoosier dicates over 40psi hot!!.......... which is very different to any other R-spec/grooved slick I've used. https://philstireservice.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Hoosier-A7-R7-Tire-Care.pdf (Obviously a full slick Carcass requires no where near that pressure, closer to 30psi or under) R specs I run at 35 psi hot approx. Depending on under steer/oversteer on the day.
