Are you faster than a stock R35 GTR around the track?

Definitely not.

GTR is 4WD and 2 door though,  if that is your point.

I'm confident I could put an R35 GTR around Wakefield in a 1.05 all day.

Much, much easier car to drive at the limit.

None of these road car times below mean anything as they are all on road tyres.

My car is heavily modified and with me driving does 9's on road tyres, 8's on semi's and now 7's on R7's.

I'm certain  a professional driver with less mechanical sympathy could extract another second off my times at least. :)

im surprised it would be that far apart still considering the power you have which should be more than a stock R35 ATW, and handling mods you have made

Well on the bright side you would beat a stock R35 down the drag strip :)

And throw a manual in and go quicker again

I'm still surprised anyone would compare a $40k rwd taxi with performance mods to a $150+k purpose built awd supercar and expect any sort of parity.

a highly modified one(with a lot of $$ spent on it)  making more power ATW than a stock GTR.  Its a pretty fair question.

Been a while since I read nelsonian's thread but I'd bet he's spent under 30k on the car.

So around high end fpv money, or under half the price of a new GTR.

Power is only part of the story when it comes to the track; weight (and weight distribution) and the way power is put down (4wd vs 2wd) have a huge impact on performance, to say nothing of all the electronic gizmos in the GTR.

Fair question, just not a relevant one.

Turn off all electronic stability/grip driver aids in both and try a head to head would be interesting!  Not sure if you can or not in the GTR.

Is a manual T faster around a track than auto despite losing boost on change?  Can you negate that by flat shifting the whole time?

Manual T will always be a bit faster around a track. Less drivetrain power loss in 3rd/4th.

Maybe slower at Marulan though with a lot of 2nd/3rd changes.

Really looking forward to my first try at Winton this November 5th with Circuit club.

Manual has better engine braking as well.  The advantage is the wheels are connected to the engine directly in a manual. Auto is not

nelson does amazing with a fat auto car.

Forgot to mention the fact that after market diffs like Kaaz work very well with manuals too, especially braking when slightly off centre. Really help settle the car when tipping in at the limit.

Auto's don't have this luxury.
