Assembly Plant (body construction, paint, and final assembly)

Yeah, that. Everything bar the engine!

Geelong also does (almost) all the stamping, and some sub assembly construction, like rear floors.

I'm not saying any more on the other topic. My post, whilst not actually saying anything, was born out of frustration on a particular day, but nevertheless as a passionate fan I am now left cynical, disappointed, and disillusioned with many facets of the business, number one being MARKETING!!!

You can all now see the cumulative effect of the thinly veiled efforts of those in charge over the last few years. All the spin, all the "great work", and now the "sudden but expected".

Back to topic. Prodrive designed the current FPV package (stickers, badges, bought some red brakes), but with them out of the picture there would be no team to design a separate line-up, even one with as little content as the FPVs (which I'm being a little harsh to in all fairness, especially since I own one). Therefore, all models will need to be designed by Ford product development, who are busy working on overseas programs and distance themselves from local product as much as they can, so I'm not expecting much if anything, and if these rumours are true I am not surprised. I have said don't wait for a GT, unless you want one with shadow rims and a limited edition badge on the boot (Ford's typical special pack marketing boost for Falcon)

Thanks for the extra info Bunna. Was under the impression it was engines only!

Not great news about content updates though but not entirely unexpected given the record and climate.

It's a shame we cant bring back Geoff Polites,

I consider under his management that what he did for Ford Australia was nothing short of extraordinary. Pre BA the Falcon was set for the same demise that Ford is now taking. The turn around that the BA gave Ford extended the life of the company to today and I believe that was through the passion drive and determination of Geoff.

I know there was a LOT of other unsung people involved in the development but ultimately it was under his leadership.

I'm proud to say that back in the day we had the pleasure of him taking time out of his day to come down and speak to a group of us on a factory visit day.

Might be taking him for a ride to get him to buy one.

FPV is made by Ford now from the start of this year. Dec 2012 was the last batch of Fpv's ever to be built by the FPV production line.

now its just made by Ford

Lol sounds like bs, I imagine it would be all over any aussie motoring press if it were true..and oh yeah..an official announcement maybe?

There might not be a next generation Fpv though, after all the xr8 is returning with the 335. So where does that leave Fpv? Maybe they will go bonkers and try and beat the gts in the power game. Doubt they have the money but it's a nice thought

That's already confirmed so disregard sorry. Can't find anything about them being EOL though.
