Treay Member 29 Member For: 16y 3m 30d Gender: Male Location: Stockton, NSW Posted 14/07/13 08:42 AM Share Posted 14/07/13 08:42 AM Hi guys,Need some advice, had a Sydney based workshop replace the core in my turbo last week and once completed it was driven home to my house, ontop of the turbo repairs they also installed a braided line with external oil filter for the turboIt's done about 200kms since being done and I am in the middle of nowhere, my engine isn't boosting and my engine bay is covered in oil, I can't hear the turbo grinding or screeching so I'm thinking its not stuffed yet, but I am unsure as to why it is not boosting. I done a u turn to go back home and now the turbo is boosting again!. Still doesn't help the problem overall but I can't think why this would be happening. They fitted the speedflow filter and braided line, it must be a faulty part or something, I dont have time to investigate at present as I need to get to sort (500kms away) but I'll give the shop a call in the morning and explain it to them see what we can work out. Try to see if the oil is leaking from the oil pressure switch that connects to the block. When I got mine done I had to get new sealing washers from Ford as you can't reuse the old one as it doesn't seal properly. It is mounted on the front of the rocker cover and hooked up to braided line.I'm guessing the aftermarket filter is stuffed. I'll call the workshop tomorrow and see what they think. im just dreading the thought of getting it fixed here in Newcastle and then having the turbo go again in the near future!. think I'll just wait til I knock off and get back to Newcastle then trailer it back to Sydney to have it done. cheers. I've got a MSCN filter with speedflow lines. The speedflow filter looks smaller than an Earls filter. There may be a pinched o ring in there or it could be loose. You could also loosen the oil line to the turbo while the engine is running, to ensure there oil at the turbo. Just loosen the line and wiggle it to check for oil. Then tighten it again. I would then hold the engine at 3500rpm so engine oil pressure is at its highest. You should see where the leak is then. If boost is not coming on intermittently then your waste gate has to be open when there is no boost. Stick your head under the car and look. Up at the turbo charger. See if it all looks legit, maybe even take a photo and post it on here. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
