Road Trip

The roads up there in the hinterland are beauties. The three adults in the back, did they have enough leg room. As far as packaging goes (and my family are all extras from the Land of the Giants TV show) this is my only complaint. With the front seat back there should be more rear leg room. It's a bit tight back there (as the actress said to the Bishop).

Living in a rural area, to get anywhere I travel on highways or country roads - which like you said - is why I bought the car.

One more thing before I forget, about the car bra.

Ages ago when I first joined a member here was selling the car bra he bought as it had scratched his ? bonnet.

Did you have any marks on your return?

Plus if I was serious, I would have it on all the time, which defeats the purpose a bit.

There was no scratches, but it could I reckon if you didn't treat it with care puttin on and takin off. Here is a pic of the front.

Oh yeah, Byron was chockas, people everywhere, if ya gonna go book early, real early. Your bound to have a good time theres plenty of stuff to do! (the talent ain't bad either! )

I don't think the car bra affected performance plenty of air can get through (ya just got clean the crap off every now and then).

Good spin mate. The road between Ballina and Byron via Alstonville ( not Lennox Heads ) is purpose built for Ts.

Had many a good run through there. Watch out 4 the camera going up the hill in the 90 zone , you are just punching 3rd in the Auto & then the anchors .... Damn

Another good one is the back road from near Ballina to Tintenbar...Nice and windy...Brake faded the Pintara...

Coming from the South go past the turn to to Alstonville_Lismore and continue on to just past Summerland Antiques and the will be a turn on your LEFT to TEVEN (Golf Course). After the nice straight 2 Km stretch there will be two roads just after a bridge, take the one over to the quarry way!

So after the 3990km, or whatever it was, did you notice that vibration in the brakes you were talking about getting any worse?

Wouldn't it have just been easier for them to post a 100 sign if that were the case?

The way this was explained to me is that when a speed limit sign is posted ie 80km/h then the road must have corner advisory limits posted on every corner where the recommended speed is less than 80km/h. this means that you get the yellow signs saying 45km/h etc.

When the black circle with the line through it sign is posted the open road limit (100km/h) applies but the corners are not necessarily signposted so you should drive to limit of the conditions.

I don't know if this correct and I'd love it if someone could confirm or deny this.

This is also my understanding.

Pays to keep your eyes open on some of the secondary roads about the place. Even more difficult with no lines and skinny shoulders.

I've only noticed slight vibration in my brakes, and that's a couple of weeks after returning from my trip. I don't think the trip really caused any warping I think it would have happened anyhow. I didn't really need to do any, 'serious' braking on the road. I probably would have used them more thrashing it down here looking back.

I always had the intention of upgrading the brakes 'down the track' as the standard ones are average. Looking at it this way, get them fixed and if it starts happening again buy new rotors and calipers and get ford to fit them. I heard someone else did that as it would actually save them labour??

Man I don't know how to use this quote business. Thanks for the info about the sign posting guys, I will be aware next time. There are some great backroads though.

On another note, on the return trip a VN which was in front of me overtook a caravan then was turning back into the left lane - so I could overtake him and lost it completely, couldn't believe it! Smashed right into a car parked on the side of the road (only parked car for about 30 klicks). He wasn't even turning that sharply. I think it was a combination of wet roads (nothing overly dramatic), bald tyres and the lack of fine touch in the accelerator of the VN (all or nothing). Anyways the caravan stopped to check it out, he shoulda been ok. Unroadworthy cars are dangerous!
