So scanner came up with zero faults. Auto sparky was stumped. Didn't check ecu plugs because we couldn't get it off as it is riveted on. Anyone know how to remove these?

Also determined that it is getting fuel, however just got getting spark. This is leading me more towards CAS again. I think my next step will be to put the bloody thing on a tow truck and take it back to Simon at XFT. If anyone is going to know it will be him.

Edit: would the scanner have connected to the ECU if the problem was the plug?

Seriosuly doubt its the CAS. They are a very simple sensor that will either work or it won't. Do you have a coolant leak by anychance? Coolant has been known to leak from the thermostat housing and drip into the CAS plug and cause issues.

You can remove the PCM plugs without removing the PCM. There are access holes in the mount that allow you to pop the retainers back and remove the plugs.

To remove the PCM shear bolts you need to cut a groove in them with either a hack saw or dremel then use a large flat bladed screw driver to remove.

When I had a brand new BF T - engine cut out once whilst driving on SE Freeway. Ford replaced my electronic throttle control unit. Didn't cut out again for rest of 2 year lease. Not sure if that's another lead to follow up on :idunno:

True, however it will hard for any mechanic to fix due to irregularity of the fault. You could try a harness wiggle test and see if it shuts down. Start it and wiggle all plugs and all of the harness.

I wish I could, but it's not starting at all. Definitely no leaks, and nothing from thermostat housing. Those sheer bolts are a real bitch. What was the advantage of them over real bolts anyway? If it was the ecu though, would the scanner have connected to it in the first place?

I will give XFT a call tomorrow and see what they think, and let y'all know. Thanks for help guys, much appreciated.

So finally some news back from XFT. They have narrowed it down to a short along the ignition line. They have been through about 50 fuses trying to find it but havent as of yet. that's a releif for me as its not the ecu or something more costly. They said they should have it sorted by early next week (Simon has been out crook and only just back at work).
