Based on your location perhaps Superoo (A member here) could drop by and take you for a spin. If that does nit cinvince you nothing will.

Where do you work? perhaps someone here works close by.

I have a manual - but, BUY THE AUTO. Better for mods and smoother. The manual box is a POS. My series 2 will definitely be an auto. Mainly because I do a lot of driving for work and am getting lazy. Besides, 300kw at the wheels in an auto will be plenty! :smilielol:

Oh, and GO THE CITRIC ACID - enough of these oldies colours.

Flamesuit on.....

Teething troubles - nothing so far that couldn't be sorted out by a good dealer, though the question of whether or not to try to lose the mild diff whine at 95 -100 kph with a changeover remains unanswered.

Cheers

Hey ZEKE.

I have had 2 diffs replaced so far and the period whine 95 - 100 comes back after about 100 klm. My service manager said I'll put in as many as you want but your better off to wait a couple of months for a new batch to come out. Obviously an annoying fault that FMC are onto

PUNCH BUNNY, happy with the manual, a bit notchy however for me it's add's to the driving experience of the car. After having an auto for the past 6 years (SS commodores) I'm glad of the change.

As for comparing the 2 the BA is a totally new car, few teething hiccups, obviously common in any new car these days.

The SS, where do I begin??

The motor design in 30 years old,(Pushrod) (New motor due towards end of year). The current body design is now nearing it's end, 2005 update. The Gearboxes are s-house, same Chasis since the VT and only mild changes in the body shell. Is that enough for you??

Hope this helps. Agree with the guys though, premium sound is a must also sunroof & leather if you can afford it. These things are what made a difference to the car for me.

By the way I only drove an XR8 before buying my T. Don't get persuaded by the sound of the 8 the T is more exiciting! It will however give you an idea of the handling etc...... :smilielol:

Punch Bunny,

Mate. I live out that way.

As per above. The best way to decide is to drive one!! You WILL be hooked..

I have done 40,000Ks in mine and it goes like the clappers (stock!)

I live out your way (Sunbury). Am happy to take you for a spin after work or some time..!!!

PM me.

Oh by the way.. Phantom is the only colour (Lots of Blueprint around - Even AU'sand Festivas!!) Go the Phantom. Nothing else like it on the road.. Premium sound is also a must! :smilielol:

I think the wheels or motor magazines described the handling of the XR8 as a lead tipped arrow in tight corners, due to the V8 being much heavier. There is a Herrod improved 400kW supercharged version in the latest Motor mag that would be rather nice in the driveway. In standard form it appears that the T out handles the XR8 hands down
