3.5k faark! And its an Eaton! I would be expecting a Harrop plus a wristy and a beer for that coin

Does look like a stock shaft, and it's the first I have heard of one being too long to be honest.

There seems to be a increasingly worrying trend in this thread that I got ripped off :(

My searching indicates that the Eaton is still solid, just not as great/strong as the Harrop version? The total cost was $3450.00 which included $313.64 in GST - there was no breakdown of the invoice included, but I assume the centre itself was around $1200 (based on ebay prices), bearings/seals/oil around $500 and the rest in labour.

Too much?

remove and refit cradle should only be 4 hrs or less (my ford dealer does it in just over 2 hrs last time) - say $400

Elite have a reputation for being up there with their pricing, all im going to say. My car was tuned by elite once upon a time.

I was quoted almost grand less from my current tuner with new bearings and all that in the diff (Harrop)

Great workman ship at elite but, when I was there they kinda bagged my tuner and then insisted I needed a gtx and an external gate which was quoted at a rediculous price... You'll always be chasing more power mate I would bite the bullet and get a built one at hardy at around $1000 and then never worry about it again.

if your unsure of the tailshaft, maybe you could take a measurement from the centre bearing to the companion shaft whilst its in the car.

Then remove it and check the measurement with it out. (measure centre bearing to the rear cv whilst pushing the cv inward, then again with pulling it outward to give you its free play) if the measurement "installed" is roughly in the middle of the other two measurements you shouldnt have a problem. I know the rear cv have some give and take in length as they have a plunging action to take up movement from the diff. I just had a F6 craddle installed into my falcon and went through all the tailshaft drama's
