When I picked the car up, the workshop indicated that the tailshaft was 15mm too long and was causing damage to both the gearbox and the diff due to lack of clearances. They also indicated that this was likely the reason for the original damage to the previous diff centre, and recommended that I source a new tailshaft asap to avoid further damage.Rather than spend another $2k+ for a new tailshaft, on top of the $3.5k that the TrueTrac cost, is it feasible to get the existing tailshaft shortened? Vehicle is making approximately 300kw at the wheels with no immediate plans for any major increases, so a strengthened tailshaft seems rather overkill at the moment (especially as it could use a set of Brembos)Any advice appreciated! Maybe get some pics or something and post it up and someone in the know might be able to verify that its a stock shaft?

Apparently according to Steve/Paul this is a factory fault and a fairly common issue with the standard tailshafts?3.5k too expensive? I thought it was pretty exxy, but it was drive-in, drive-out so I assumed it wasnt too bad considering parts/labour etc?

Apparently its only 15mm too long, so I'm wondering if theres another factor involved.Where abouts do you live mate? im in CQ and have a stock shaft in the shed, get a pic up and some measurements of length and I will compare it with the one in my shed? if mine is shorter your welcome to come pick it up for a small price.I'm in South East Brisbane. I'll try and get some pics and post them up here for reference.I'm 99% sure that the current tailshaft is stock.
