Agree..

can a blcoked fuel filter and/or bad fuel pump be the problem?

also are you sure its pinging? not some other noise?

Yeah I'm quite sure as I know that pinging noise...

Yeah I was thinking about changing the fuel filter...I might change it over the weekend.

Could a clogged up catalytic convertor also be a cause of pinging?

I have the same problem - should the knock sensor be picking it up and retarding the ignition? Also, why are no trouble codes being registered?

it possibly might be picking it up but the required retatrd exceeds what is programmed into the ecu I.e it is needs 10 degrees removed but the sensor is programmed to remove 8, so the car will still ping

*** Yes... it will set a code... And will in some cases go in to Limp Mode.

A Friend's Ute had a stuffed Cat-Converter.

Ford Dealer told Him... nothing wrong... LOL
