Looking forward to it!

Bare minimum make sure your engine oil, brake fluid and front pads are in good condition/new.

Before each track day I have the oil/filter changed. Change my front track brake pads, front camber and front ride height, fit a front splitter. Every few track days have the diff oil, plugs, fuel filter, brake fluid flush and power steering fluid changed.

Strip all loose stuff out of the car. Check tyre pressures and tighten wheel nuts.

Just relax and enjoy your car at speeds that simply cannot be done on public roads. That's what it's all about.

If interested in your own data logging, use Harry's Lap timer on iphone or I use Racechrono on an old Nokia with an external 5Mhz GPS via Bluetooth. Not necessary as they will give you a timing device Transponder that you fit to your car. (front or drivers door pocket)

Basic Itinerary for circuit club days.

I recommend getting there earlier than you think.

I get there around 7.15am. Takes me about an hour to unpack and set the car up (wheel change etc)

I highly recommend the track walk at 8am. You actually drive your own car around and park at each corner on the track and listen to the pro advice.

Sign in etc

First session is usually the fast group. (Me and 10 evo's...... :) )

This is an untimed practice session. I use it simply to warm the tyres and check track conditions. Think I did a 1min25 last time. Every Evo in the field overtakes me and I happily wave them past. I keep the esp tc on first session too.

I come straight into the pits as the car doesn't get that hot this session and adjust hot tyre pressure straight away. Check wheel nut torque.

9.15am approx. group 2 warm up then 9.30am group 3 then 9.45am group 4 warm up.

First session is simply a warm up. Take it easy. The Renault Nationals are on the same day so expect a lot of fast modified Meganes and Clio's. They may have there own group? Not sure yet.

10am approx. is my first timed session. I'll aim for 2 warm up laps and then for 2 hot laps, cool down lap and then out of the complex onto the highway for a better brake cooldown. Into the pits bonnet up and fan on intercooler then front brakes. Check tyre pressures again.

I run the low boost tune am 15psi and if all is good, I try the 17psi tune pm and hope for that pb!

In my experience they nearly always forecast rain there 7 days out.

Forecast is pretty accurate 2-3 days out.

However, even it rains in Goulburn, often doesn't rain at Wakefield about 10km away.

Even it it does, usually get at least one dry session.

All that is usually required for a quick lap.

Thanks for the write up Paul going to be a long day. Might even head into town after the meet for some dinner and or a 1 beer.

What tyre pressure would you recommend mate I'm running 40 ATM.

I'm planning on getting there about 730-740 which should hopefully give me time to find a spot and sign in before the track walk/drive.

Awesome detail as usual Paul, love your car!

Top of 19 should be quite nice. Hopefully the morning rain fizzles out or doesn't reach the track.

From memory we want about 34 with our street tyres, they'll get to about 45 after a few laps and you'll know about it with all the sliding and tyre squealing lol. Later on though they should stabalise. I think first session drop to about 32-34 and drop again after each session back to around that. Paul probably will have the right numbers for us.

Looks like just our three taxis then, should be a good day, long though so I don't think ill make dinner or a beer, I think my wife will be ready to head home by the end lol. She'll enjoy the passenger session though.

tyre pressure that low. I remember when I went to my FPV track day they said tyre pressure set at 42 and I though that was high as I normally ran 38.

I'll be aiming for around the same time 7:30am at the latest I think. Also bring my camera and thanks to the kids a gopro hero3.

Top 19 sounds fair never been to a club meet so I'll try my best with a stock beast.

Brave wife Bulletime my wife wouldn't come but my kids wanted to so I'll be going solo.

Hmm actually went back over some stuff and looks like probably want high 30s hot so yeah, I think my first or second lap of a session is usually my quickest, probably because the tyres over inflate after that. So maybe aim 38-40? Paul?

I got a gopro for my birthday earlier in the year too, awesome cameras, great for mtbing too.

I've never done a circuit club day either, just two speed of the streets days.

Lol yeah she's cool with the circuit day, altho she might not stay all day haha. She did a ride along in a drift car when we were in Vegas when I did exotics racing and I drove a few unreal cars, so she's pretty fun, I wasn't driving the drift car though lol.

the bumps at WP has probably gotten worst as the years go on.. Plus now with trucks racing on it.. I think its just gonna destroy the track.

never taken a car out there, but on the racebike got to watch out for the bumps on the inside of 3 and coming out of 9 if you drift out wide.. probably doesn't matter too much in a car

Have fun guys! Track days are very addictive which normally leads on to racing

High 30's will be fine with your Pilot Sports hot. The R888's I lent you that day would require slightly lower pressure being an R spec.
