My laptop hates connecting to the elm

But my tablet connects the torque app to the elm first crack every time

Just tried this on my FG using an ELM327 v1.5 dongle and no issues.

Took about 60 seconds to connect to the car and discovered the following modules:

Hi Ralph,

my laptop is Windows 7 32 bit.

I pulled the lid off the ELM and it has Ver 1.5 on the circuit board.

I tried connecting with the board rate set to auto and manually at 9600, I will try with a higher baud rate.

I also had the ELM USB setup as Comm port 1 in Device Manager.

I just tried again, with the Baud rate set to 38 400, however I still get a message stating no connection to ECU please make sure the ignition is turned on and try again.

Did you set the Baud rate of the comms port to 38 400 also or just the software.

The software also tells me that my ELM device is VER 1.4.
