Have read rumors the new 2014 update will have the new ZF box? No hard evidence that I've seen yet.

ZF says the new 6 HP 28 can handle engines with a torque output of up to 553 lb.-ft. (750 Nm), which covers a wide range of large-displacement gasoline and diesel engines.

I have the ZF in a turbo territory and the manual in a FGmkII xr6t

The manual is slower at the hands of avg driver in most real world uses but puts a much bigger smile on every time you drive it

In the hills and open highway the manual is fantastic but in heavy traffic the auto is nicer and given most people spend the majority of time commuting in city explains why the vast majority are auto's

It seems to me the resale on a manual is a little higher but more of a restricted market

Would be interesting to see what a DSG style box would do to acceleration times in. xR6T

I would however by my manual again without a 2nd thought. But I spend most of my time driving on roads marked at 80+ Klm/hr

Xrsext couldn't have said it better!

6 speed manual for a performance car, auto's are crap, and resale is higher with a manual because they are rarer!

No clutch no control! Manual's use less fuel too.

If the auto was as tuff as the manual I'd consider going it but the manual is a lot of fun and possibly more engaging. If you can change quick enough you'll kill the autos thru the twisties anyway as they are so much more predictable.. The manuals are fairly bullet proof too + the new box sees a few more synchros too. I think it boils down to what kind of driver you want to be.

I would like to see proof that manuals use less fuel, never heard such :bs:

I love my manual cars but the ZF is by far best suited for the T.

It comes down to what you really want at the end of the end, the choice is yours. Good luck!!

I drove both before buying my f6 and liked the auto much more. The auto was a fair bit quicker as it was always on boost - manual seemed to loose a bit on gear changes. Probably less of an issue with the smaller turbo on an xr but if straight line acceleration is something you're interested in then the auto would still come up trumps comfortably. Both will destroy diff bushes, but be prepared to change them more often in a manual. If you plan on modding it and launching it hard then plan on spending some money on a stronger clutch. Does happen with the autos as well from what I read but generally only in cars with 350rwkw+ (& huge torque) as well as a fair number of runs on the strip.

I went the auto and haven't regretted in yet
