The shell near summernats is the gateway shell.. The fyshwick shell one is a great meeting place for Canberran and sydney sider. It's basically on the way and it's reasonably central for most of Canberra. You can actually see it from the monaro hwy ;)

I had a run on the cottor today. It basically adds 55 minutes to the trip. I think that it may end up being a little hard for the Sydney drivers, since getting to Canberra is about 2 1/2 hours and to Jyndabyne from Canberra is about 2 hours. Adding another hour may be too much for Sydney siders to handle.

However what do Canberra drivers think of maybe having a little drive before meeting up with the Sydney drivers. Maybe do the cottor, go to Tindbinbilla tracking station for an hour or so to have a feed and a look at the latest rover propoganda then go to Fyshwick to meet up with the Sydney T drivers. I'm thinking this may be a good idea, since the Sydney drivers will be in Canberra at about 3:30pm or thereabouts.

OK the way I went..

Started Mt Ainslie went down Anzac Parade, then right onto Parkes Way which then goes into the Tuggeranong Pwy.

Cottor Rd 12 min 15.4km

Cottor Dam 27min 29.7km

Tidbinbilla Tracking Station 43min 47.7km

Point Hut xing 58min 68.6km

Monaro hwy 1hr 05min 75.2km

Majura Drive 1hr 18min 92.7km

The road works on cottor road are ongoing. They have fixed (put a new bridge in) the small bridge at the burnt down hotel part near the dam. There is one area that goes down to 40km/h and then the wait to go along one lane. Other than the odd rough patch, the road is ok I guess with 100km/h speed limit most of the way. I swear that I saw atleast 50 or so motor bikes making the cottor trek today.

I'll scope the Shell during the week and see what other varieties of fuel cards it takes if peopel are interested/need to know...

ie Motorpass/Motorcharge/etc Some of those Shells around here don't take one or the other....

While it may be an early top-up for people it's also going to be a good chance to get fuel in a place with decent turn-over etc...

For those with Caltex/Ampol cards there's on of those att eh airport, and a unfortunately BP card holders will need to deah into the City.
