I have an XR6 turbo (2004) that I've had for about 6 weeks, it's got about 160,000kms on it.

I didn't notice any issues at first but this seems to be getting worse.

At low revs the car runs fine. But when I start to pick the revs up and give it some stick the engine just dies (at around 4,000rpm).

This is not all the time though, only most oft the time.

I keep my foot flat to the floor and it takes off the it struggles (coughs and splutters) and the power just dies. As the revs drop the power comes back on.

At first I though it was a blocked fuel filter so I changed that (quick and easy job), but didn't change it.

A few weeks back I replaced the gasket between the outlet manifold and the turbo cause there was exhaust gas hissing from it cause it was damaged.

Also I've noticed a slight shake to the car when it's idling, might be related??

Some direction would be appreciated :)

I have the same issue, mine started to die at 100% throttle over 4000rpm.. If I back off it goes again. I replaced spark plugs, it fixed it for a day or so then the problem returned.

So on the weekend I replaced coil packs as well, now it's fine for 1st and 2nd gear WOT and dies after the shift to third only WTF!
