However, at the same time I also sent an email to Wheels mag regarding their article for that month which also stated that both were standard. Today I got a reply and I quote"Sorry it's taken a while to get an answer for you, but Ford have only today been able to clarify the situation. Here it is...Traction control is standard on XR6 TurboLSD is an option (no cost) on XR6 TurboIf a customer elects to go for LSD, for technical reasons traction control cannot be fitted"So back to square one. I still don't know!

Guest DZ. Guests Posted 29/10/02 10:30 PM Share Posted 29/10/02 10:30 PM Interesting point to note is that when you look at the specs of BA Falcons the site lists LSD as standard on XR6T and XR8 and optional on all other cars - but if you take the LSD option on the other cars traction control is removed.Every driving review on the XR6T to date has mentioned something about the traction control so perhaps LSD really is an option... Where's FordPRMan when you need him!
Guest mhumps Guests Posted 29/10/02 10:32 PM Share Posted 29/10/02 10:32 PM Traction control Vs. LSD stumps me.... Production has however started including Auto models. I still have a car or two available for production before the end of the year...
Guest Ford PR Man Guests Posted 29/10/02 10:55 PM Share Posted 29/10/02 10:55 PM Both traction control and LSD are torque apportioning devices - sensing wheel slip and sending torque to where it thinks most appropriate. However, traction control also regulates the amount of torque via spark reatardation. This makes it a much more substantial safety device. And unlike some other traction control devices, the software in the XR6 Turbo has been praised by the media for being non-intrusive. It will allow some lateral movement before easing in and setting the car back square. Our tech guys have worked very hard on it and we think it's a ripper system.cheers
Guest Ford PR Man Guests Posted 29/10/02 10:56 PM Share Posted 29/10/02 10:56 PM And yes, traction control is standard. LSD is a no cost option.

LSD is a no cost option. Ok but are they mutually exclusive? That's the real question I want answered.
Guest Ford PR Man Guests Posted 30/10/02 12:02 AM Share Posted 30/10/02 12:02 AM Dave, sorry to have to reassign my earlier quote, but it seems I was misled. I now have been told by one of the engineering chiefs from FPV that XR6 Turbo comes with both traction control AND LSD. This was so if traction control is switched off, there is still a torque apportioning device in play. Again, apologies for the misleading information. Hope this clears it up.cheers
