What To Buy - Xr6T Or G6Et?

Locating an XR that has all the standard G6ET features is quite hard. The G6ET has everything standard. Best bang for buck is the G6ET. Lots of "fully optioned" XR's tend to be priced higher than their G6E counterparts.

Thanks to all for the great advice.<br /><br />I like the 'luxury feel' of the G6ET, however, I'm looking for the 'Oh what a feeling' / fun factor as well. I think that the XR6T would be 'fun', however, it appears a bit basic in the luxury stakes & relatively few have the 'Luxury Pack' (which I understand includes Satnav (not a deal-breaker' in 2013 .... I don't mind using a portable system), leather seats & a premium sound system ... not sure about anything else ... at a cost of around $4,500).<br /><br />I guess that, as has been highlighted, you pay more for the G6ET as it has 'everything' as standard. 'Cruise Control' your G6ET looks immaculate!<br /><br />I'll speak with the dealership regarding the extended test drives.<br /><br />Once again, great advice. I really appreciate it.

Ive known a few people who've bought G6ET's.....yet despite all the teasing about lawn bowls, cardigans and grandpa's etc....

Every one of them has been impressed with it and would buy it again....

When stock these cars don't handle very well so if your looking for something that will be fun driving on your favorite piece of road I would choose another car. But if your looking for comfort and straight line performance they're hard to beat.

G'day, really a newbie myself but must say that I have never looked back after buying the G6ET - I am 46 so a bit past it but still a bit extreme on occasion. I had a similar experience to your post - drove the XR6 (as a low km rental) twice while in NZ - both where medium to high speed runs, at night, between Christchurch and Dunedin (4-5 hours). Loved the dynamics and styling (internal and external). The handling was great for the type. After my Mum died I decided to buy a new car and my mate convinced me to go for the G6ET as I am in an executive role, play golf, etc... Mate, I have never looked back and only look forward to the day I can afford to 'do up' the suspension, brakes, airbox, injectors and get the thing on a Dyno! I paid $50k for mine new in 2010 and still consider it super value for money. Have never looked back and enjoy it each and every day. Best of luck!

Yep, despite the odd dealer problem initially, I would 100% buy one again and if the F6E was available in 2016, I'd do an upgrade (it's existence is looking shaky unfortunately).

As for the handling, it's softer than an XR6T which is a lot better for the commuter run but obviously makes it slightly less stable going hard around corners. If it wasn't for the regular city runs I would look at stiffer suspension, as it is my bum doesn't want anything less comfortable, lol

Did sway bars/springs/bilsteins/brakes/true trac/diff bushes in my G6ET. Now I have luxury and handling(not EVO but still hell fun). So it's not quite as soft as stock but hey they are a bit of a boat in original form..

The G6E and XR6 is pretty much the same car, it's still a Falcon it's just various differences added on like softer suspension, dual zone climate etc.

To be honest the G6E with it's Gloss Black Plastics does not scream Quality and High End to me, but more like a glorified Falcon rather than something on it's own league.

From what I've read the G6E will have softer suspension so if you want to cruise around comfortably get a G6 and not a Turbo what's the point when XR6T's with LSD are having traction issues stock to get a G6E which has a single spinner and your driving a 4.0L Turbo.

Then it comes down to looks, whether you prefer the look of the XR6T or the G6E.

Personally I would get a Optioned out XR6T, that's what I went out and got as I wanted all the Luxury features which isn't all that much extra. The only thing you cant get on XR6T is memory seats that you have to buy a G6E for.

an XR6T with just upgraded springs will handle excellent for a 1800kg car its unbelievablely good as that's all my XR6T Seems to have. Even though it's not a G6E but has nearly every G6E Feature it feels quite like a Luxury car to drive at times

If you want a Luxury car your better off to look for a Lexus or something like that but if you want a good all round car either XR6T or G6E will do depends if you want the sportier better handling one or the slightly softer riding one with some few extra standard features.

I agree with the black piano dash looking a bit ordinary. That's why I choose the G6ET 50th anniversary with the brushed titanium look dash spears, looks classier IMO.
