Eze Rider Member 3 Member For: 11y 7m 20d Posted 20/05/13 12:20 PM Share Posted 20/05/13 12:20 PM Greetings. I've just joined the forum tonight. I'm looking to buy a 'sedan-type' car that is fun to drive. To quote the old Toyota advert, I want the, 'Oh what a feeling' feeling! (noting that few Toyotas would ever move you to think to yourself, 'Oh what a feeling' ... although the Toyota 86 might). In particular, I'm seeking some advice with regards to whether I should buy an XR6T or a G6ET.I had to drive from Newcastle to Sydney & back recently. The rental car that I picked up was a 2012 (?) XR6. While not a Turbo, I was impressed by the 'dynamics' / handling in general. I did a total of 354 Km (150 each way on the F3 Freeway & approx. 50Km in heavy traffic in Sydney for less than 30 litres of fuel. It was fun to drive.I subsequently drove a 2009 G6E (with about 90K Km on the clock). While I liked the comfort / appointments (fairly luxurious), the handling was 'competent' rather than 'inspired' / fun (and the Driver's seat squeaked all the time).A couple of weeks later I had the opportunity to drive a 2010 (?) XR6T. Unfortunately it was only for a short distance in traffic so I don't really know if it is like the 'base' XR6 that I drove but even more fun due to the Turbo (???).A friend in Bne who has a G6ET suggested that I should drive a G6ET. I then went for a relatively short drive around suburban Newcastle in a G6ET ... again only a relatively short distance & in lots of traffic. So, apart from the luxury aspect (which had appeal) & the fact that they appear to be 'competent', I don't really know if the G6ET (or the XR6T) is an 'inspired' / 'fun' car to drive. I'd appreciate some advice (particularly with regard to handling / dynamics) from members who are familiar with the XR6T & the G6ET. I don't intend to modify the vehicle. Thanks, in advance

Most perks in the G6ET can be had in a XR6T as factory added options(luxury and tech packs). Major difference between the two is the G6ET does not come fitted with an LSD. Yes the G6ET has the Luxury that other dont but its targeted towards the older market, Im not old in my ealry 30's.Ive found that the G6ET has a much softer ride, the brakes not as good but that's just me 4 pots all fix. Abyway these things also can be changed just like the XR6T you can stiff up the suspension, bigger brake, LSDI prefer the look of the G6ET over the XR due to almost everyone goes down the XR path and the G6ET's looks better. Atthe end of the day it all falls back to what you really want. Best of luck mate.
Eze Rider Member 3 Member For: 11y 7m 20d Posted 21/05/13 10:38 AM Author Share Posted 21/05/13 10:38 AM Thanks for the advice. To make up my mind on this I suppose the best thing would be to get some time behind the wheel in both types.I'll try to find someone who might let me do this. The trip in the XR6 Newcastle - Sydney - Newcastle was certainly enough to show me how good the XR6 is. It was a fun drive.I don't suppose any of the Rental Car companies have the Turbo version of the XR6 & G6E? I haven't heard of any, however, that doesn't mean they don't do it somewhere.Appreciate any suggestions regarding this.Thanks.

I can't imagine there's much in as a stock v stock basis. Xr is more sporty and G series more luxury (and for same kms and year the g series costs more. All depends what you want from the car mate. I love hoping in my mates G series, the interior just feels so much more luxurious

Keeping the car overnight. Some dealers do this but not all.Vote 1 for G6ET............. :good:
