So this is where I find myself in a quandry! The people who can actually think for themselves won't or can't speak to unhappy customers, and the people that the aforementioned customer can speak to allegedly don't have any authority of any kind. Can't even approve free servicing until 60 thousand K's for goodness sake. The whole organisation appears to be based on the idea of pass the buck to someone else, and hope the customer gives up before he or she actually finds someone to do sometihng about it!Well I say that! I work in one of the most hated NSW Government Divisions (corporations) and I know all about buck passing, and let me tell you that when it comes time to stand up and take the blame all the managers are somehow missing in action! For those of you with helpful suggestions on my next car I will take it all on board, however my next appearance at a cruise may literally be in a Commodore.Or a motorbike.Cameron

Bad news about your car mate, i have had my fair share of ups and downs with the T but still love it, and would do it all over again. As for bad service, if possible can i get one of the guys at City Ford to look after you? Im sure they will persist and get the problem sorted.

Yes, those who dare criticise a falcon here, tend not to be tollerated by all and yes they are in the minority! I think you are talking about a different Ford *cough* forum. Plenty of people have had probs with their cars here, probably few as much as Cameron though, and in my observation have received mostly sympathy and helpful suggestions in reply to their posts.I think Cameron that perhaps you should try another dealer as others have suggested. I have a very low tolerance level of bad service (from any business) myself and wouldn't have gone back more than twice if I had been stuffed around as much as you have. Hope you get your car fixed and you stay with the Blue Oval. Good luck!

I am the customer, I believe that I am not being unreasonable in wanting my car to be ok (NOT PERFECT Please note) Just having a $60k vehicle sitting around in a workshop is not my idea of correct utilisation!Cameron

Antisocial Weird Member Member 1,347 Member For: 22y 19d Location: ACT Posted 14/01/04 12:57 AM Share Posted 14/01/04 12:57 AM Familia2XR6T I know how you feel.Sounds weird but I reckon stereo probs are more infuriating than my brake shudder...you only use the brakes to slow down and most times (between machine-ing) I can minimise or eliminate the shudder by braking harder or softer (shudder is only in the middle). However if your stereo is stuffed you are stuck with it every single time you turn the car on. My CD changer hasn't worked for a month now....waiting for a replacement to arrive. It Sh!ts me something chronic, and I still have FM to listen to. I love Fords, dad has an XG mum has an AU wife has an EA etc etc... but there are so many little things that go wrong that don't get resolved. I have had to be without a car for 3 days just to get the disks machined, another 2 so far for the stereo, another for a number of things that were actually all fixed (door trim, steering creak and handbrake). But brakes and stereos seem to be an indeminc problem with no solution (appart from spending my own money for aftermarket rotors & pads). I still have my Alpine head unit, Fosgate amp and MB Quart speakers which may find a home in the XR.But I shouldn't have to do that, to make the car how it should have been originally.Today I have had the car for exactly a year, my last car was a 2000 Patrol and in the 2 1/2 years I had it the ONLY problem was the tailgate door catch, which would pop open (to the 1st stage of 2) when driving off road, then the interior light would come on. This was fixed at the initial free service and no problems for the next 95,000ks.I was hoping for something like this from the XR, but my wife EA is more reliable.I was going to get a territory next year, but if it has the same brakes and stereo as a BA I'd rather get a Toyota Prado......no just kidding, its back to a Patrol for me.Oh and Familia2XR6T, don't even contemplate the Expensive Daewoo if my old company VS was anything to go by, just as many problems, but with the engine and transmission, and the service managers would tell you you imagined it, untill all the oil leaked out at once, and the YOUR ENGINE IS NOW STUFFED light on the dash came on. HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 3m 18d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 14/01/04 12:59 AM Share Posted 14/01/04 12:59 AM Well it's all been said before. Here's hoping the problems are once and for all sorted. Yes a lot of us have had a few series 1 issues but all is sweet with our BA so far. I'm loving it.Probs I had.* 1st XR6 had the wrong interior, plexis grey, not phantom trim. YUK.Waited 2 months for a second XR.* Break shudder incident No. 1, rotors replaced.* Awaiting Ford to aprove a waranty job: Respray of the boot and spoiler due to 1 coat of paint, jagged edges and metal specks under painwork, completed.* Plastic suround broke.* Car came back with scuff marks after the 3000k service, insisted on next service being free or free detail in which I would aprove before accepting car.* Plastic suround broke, 2nd time.* Steering rack went on us around the 5000 kms mark.* Break shudder incident No. 2, rotors machined.* 15,000 service : Break shudder No. 3, rotors machined again, * Plastic suround broke for the 3rd time, weird stains on the roof of cars interior, cleaned off after I noticed it. Car washed, complained again as they left scuff marks. Another detail to my satisfaction.Mods added to car and since the work has been done. Haven't experienced any further problems. Had the transmission oil flushed and changed motor oil to a synthetic oil, she's going like a bullet.Despite all these crappy little problems....The service depo I deal with have been really good. I still love the XR. She's not a "T" but it's still a damn fine car. Still loyal and will continue to be loyal to the Blue Oval. As for going to a Holden....<grinds teeth> hmmm. That's up to you.
