hey Mondie ,my XY is a 71 year build and had discs on the front.

my sons capri is a 70 year build and has twin pot pistons on the front, outer and inner(not sure if this is standard though)

My XY set up for front disc brake was all one piece, the hub, bearings, the disck, fitted on to the axel.

Now on the BA the disc is removable on its own,not part of a solid setup as the XY,I reckon Its cause the new sh!t pads kill the discs so ford went the cheap way so discs come off easy to replace them

Ooops :smilielol:

l was talking out my arse Vic, l was thinking of the 77 Torana A9X which was the first Aussie car with rear disk brakes.

Good on ya, Al. :pinch:

I've had my precioussss since July 03 now and I still have to sit in the car for a bit after a drive ... just to let the blood flow back into the "other" parts of my body. :nuts2:

sh*t DUDE!!!! :o

ARE YOU RICH???

What do you do for a living?????????

damn drug dealers.......

No not rich at all. Far from it. The only chance I will have of being rich is if a lotto ball lands on me. As I stated these cars belong to my company. One hat that I wear at work is fleet manager. My company buys cheap & rotates the vehicles quickly. I'm sure I posted what I do on another thread and no it doesn't involve drugs. :ermm::thumbsup::thumbsup:

are you sure no drugs? jk

Hey everyone,

This is my first post on this site which I found search for xr6 in google. I got my XR6T last Saturday so I have had it for a week! I went from a 1984 Telstar Ghia to a 12/03 Blue Print XR6T. Quite a jump hehe. I have been in many stock falcons, fairmonts and xr6's before but this one I would have to say is the best I have ever driven! Its just so much fun! I do the same as others have said and when I park it and get out I turn around and just stare at it hehe.

I went into a Ford dealer to order it in early Feb and was going to get one built with the Ford Luxury pack but that would have meant I had to wait for the April build run. They happened to have one very close to what I wanted in the showroom only lacking the luxury pack and side air bags. So it was either waiting a few months and getting one built or getting one in a week and getting it cheaper too!! Just a question...is traction control standard on the XR6T? or is it an option, as it wasn't listed (meaning I didn't pay for it) but I seem to have it as there is the button for it :)

Yes traction control is standard in the XR6T, I'd have to admit that I sometimes wonder why it is there as it still wont stop wheel spin if you give it heaps.

saying you are eg. fed up with the brakes so are selling the car is so stupid. a new car is a new car, bound to have problems, all are covered under warranty, come here to complain if the DON'T fix them.

l dont agree with you here Glenn.

Ford didnt invent disc brakes for the BA, they have been around on Aussie made cars since 1977 and on imported cars for much longer than that. They have obviously saved $$ on the brakes and in doing so pissed a lot of people off. Taking the car back to the dealer repeatedly for brakes is bullsh*t, l can see why some would want to sell their cars. The inconvenience and possible safety compromise with brakes that repeatedly shudder makes it an appealing option for some.

Nah all I meant was it is such a waste to just trade in, only because of something as petty as brakes. With the money you'd lose trading in a T for another car, you could buy a good set of aftermarket brakes couldn't you?

What's wrong at 18000ks: whining diff at 90-100k (despite being changed once already), seat stitching coming apart in rear, grab handle on passenger front side coming off, external black door trim driver's door coming off.

What's right at 18000ks: Massive power rush, looks fantastic, drives fantastic.

Summary: BEST CAR I'VE EVER OWNED BY A B-I-G MARGIN!!!!!

I`m sorry but the ford landau in 1973 was the first australian car to have four wheel disc as standard in australia.
