If Ford gave me my $50K back, I'd buy my T again...today. Nothing has come onto the market in the last 6 months that would alter my choice.

But in 3 years time, who knows...but so long as Ford keep developing the product, I will more than likely be in another one.

Almost a year old and 37000km.

I have had my fair share of problems, from the bonnet latch the day I picked it up, to the squeaky belt and the dreaded brake shudder.

All those things are so easy to forget when you get in it and drive the thing.

I use mine for work, so rack up some decent K's and still love getting into it every morning.

The problems I have had I have been able to sort (thanks to the combined knowledge on here!), and I have fixed a couple of trim noises and squeaks myself.

It is still the best car I have owned.

Every car from every manufacturer is going to give you some sort of problems.

Remember the old saying: If its got t*ts for wheels it's going to give you problems...

Would I buy another one? Where do I sign?

I could have voted for two of the options in the poll - "Great car inspite of a few minor problems" or "Best car I have ever owned". I voted for best car I've owned though, because that sounds better!

I voted the other way. It's the best car I've ever owned, but there's still been a few problems, leaking trans fluid twice when less than 500km. Wouldn't engage reverse twice at 800km, replaced solenoid in the auto. Now a new diff for the ute, it whines spot on 100kmph, no less, no more. Getting replacement at 15,000km service, only 3000km to go.

My car now with 26,000k's is used to sell real estate & is excellent in this position, it's quieter than the V8's some others use, quick point to point when I'm alone & fits my 1.98m 115 kilo person very comfortably.

I love my XR & while I'm of the opinion that some here are operating under blind FORD faith I believe that my FORD faith is well trained & earned.

I'm eagerly awaiting a series 2 as I'm hopeful that a 6 speed auto will arrive to improve the cars gearing & also make it more 1/4 mile friendly.

But the best thng about the XR6T is what this car has done to rekindle a lot of Passion for Fordophiles myself included & this to me is excellent for the future.

I only wish Old Henry was alive to see what this model has done for Oz & of course this website, thankyou Chris.

:smilielol: I love my Turbo. I don't own it though, it is my company car. (love my job too) If I was allowed too and hadn't just bought a house, I would have bought one for my wife too. I still think that one day I will get one, because I cannot modify my company cars. I have been very lucky and had 3 different turbo's over the last year and a bit, with my next one due in a few weeks. Each one has had minor issues that have been fixed under warranty. My current ride is at the dealers getting the brakes done at the moment. I will say that if the car was mine the minor probs would be annoying me alot more than they do.

I haven't driven many performance cars and this one has got to be one of the best cars I have ever driven in my limited experience. :o

Best car that I have ever owned, despite the little series 1 annoyances.

Love it, even if it's not an XR8 or XR6T.

What a car. There is nothing on the road that turns head like a new XR XRT or XR8. Everybody wants to know bout them and what they are like and I can only give them top reports. I havent had a hiccup from my T and its done 14000 klm including 2 trips to newcastle. I say keep up the good work FOMOCO all the little bumps will get ironed out and series II will be even better

I,ve had much faster and more mechanically robust cars in the past, and I do miss the sound of a lumpy willing V8 ,but I would say as an overall package driven within the bounds of sensible operation,it's the best car I have ever owned.Handling, comfort, equipment, performance, brakes and eye appeal are all near the top of the class in my opinion.Perhaps some people expect a little too much from an Australian built car in the build quality, rattles, panel fit or whatever but GM,Ford and Mitsubishi are all about the same.I may not be alone in detecting some complaints on this forum from people who have had mechanical failures on modified cars which are perhaps being driven just a bit harder than others and maybe its not all the cars fault. Our car is driven fast and hard but never abused and while there are genuine cases of manufacturer f@ck ups ours has had not one problem.I love it and would certainly buy another one.

Sorry to hear you are so disapointed....you are aware that much of the running gear on the XR8 is the same as the "T" so the rattles, squeaks etc would surely end up the same. As for spending 7K on an XR8 after spending the the 5K extra on the cars to start... :ermm: I donot believe you would get the same bang for buck that you will get from spending half that amount on the "T".

BTW check the Ford web site, the standard XR8 brakes are the same as the "T" and the car is at least 50kg heavier :ermm:

:ermm:

You got me there Dave. Mate I've already spent $7000 on the T which is presently sitting at the dealer with 2 fault codes which have been rather annoying over the last 3 months as they tend to pop up of there own accord and make the Unichip agents rather upset. I got so p!ssed off with the thing that I ended up signing up for a GT-P. Soon I will have a T and a GT-P (which will remain standard). I still reckon $7000 down the gullet of an XR8 would make a fast car, I think the Ts are a little to new and there are more FMC faults to appear yet. I will make a final decision when I get the car back with the sensors fixed codes cleared, unichip refitted and bigger intercooler added. With all I've done so far this car should make 400 engine kW. I'll bet money that it won't, anyway live and learn I say, and for those who got a glitch free car I can see it would be a most enjoyable experience
