So after an awesome result last meeting, I qualified reasonably well but the engine developed a noise that I didnt like.

Turns out its losing comp from one cylinder. You can hear it bypassing to the exhaust so maybe a valve is damaged or somethings happened with shims. So I just lined up for the first round, took the green light, switched it off and rolled back to the pits.

So at least I got first round lose points. but Ive still lost my second place in the points.

So out came the motor today....again.

hopefully its not bad and I can come back for the last round and get some points.

I'd post a pic but this forum upgrade is pants.

Far out my early 2000 R1 is fast enough let alone any turbo charged motorcycles!

gota say I got a soft spot for the BMW bikes, much prefer their handling/etc.

the video of the bikes being pushed down the drags is hilarious!

Season done and I finished a slightly dissapointing 3rd.

So now its time for off season shenanigans.

I pulled the motor back out so we could give the bottom end a health check and all is perfect, which is great.

A couple of things will happen over the break. First is a colour change back to the sweet candy green the bike was when I first built it.

First to be done is wheels, then bodywork later.

The new old colour. My old streetfighter headlight.

Next is the upgrade to a stand alone Link ECU and Cdi. So I ripped all the wiring out of it today. All up, 7kgs of stuff came out.

I was racing this a week ago.

Three years ago I bought this thing - a fairly well blinged Aprilia SXV550 motard bike.  The original owner set it up for track day use, whereas I'm going to use it on the road.  This meant tracking down lighting, dashboard and other rego stuff.  Great fun.

It hadn’t done a whole lot of work - 17 hours.

It was sent from MacKay, Queensland, to Perth.  Unpacking it was fun.

After massive initial enthusiasm, things fell by the wayside, and it become a long term unfinished project.  Bugger.  It was meant to replace my other one, which was fairly close to standard.

It has all sorts of interesting things, including:

- Alpina wheels , 16.5 front , 5.5 rear

- Sach kitted forks , Ohlins rear shock with adjustable ride height

- STM slipper clutch

- Silmoto Dual Outlet Exhaust (ie a bit more power, but not too noisy)

- Complete Beringer front brake setup

- Iceparts Quick Shifter

- Shortened swingarm

- Goldspeed street legal motard tyres (ie grippy suckers)

- Optional 12 litre tank and seat (I’ve also got a Seat Comforts seat to go on soon)

On the first night I was up until dawn swapping parts between the two bikes.  Swapping the exhausts took ages.

There were phases of actual progress.

There were exotic bikes all over the place at one stage.  Now it’s down to one SXV and one KTM.

The new one is just about brand new, despite being eight years old now (2008 model).

I finally got it licenced a few days ago.

I took it out to meet some other Aprilia SXVs.  Within the first km it developed a flat rear tyre.  Not impressed.  It will need additional lighting and a laser jammer as soon as possible.

Hopefully this one won’t keep going through oil pressure switches like the last one did.  That was a whole lot of fun when each switch let go, resulting in engine oil being fed through to the back tyre.

Hey bud, sorry for the delayed reply havent been on in a while. Yeah ive done that road a few times as I actually live in calliope and go for a quick squirt every now and then. Be good if there were more roads around though for a good thrash that isnt dead straight top speed runs, plenty of them round here lol
