I took my r1 out for a cut at the drags the other night. First time ever racing a bike at the strip so there were no miracles lol only got 2 runs in all night as the timing gear was playing up most of the night.

Two fingers on the clutch.

Get the first light on, get low and set yourself up for the run, set your launch rpms, let the clutch out till it juuuuust starts to take up. Roll into the second light and let it go on the last yellow.

Wind the gas in as you feed the clutch out. When you get it right, the launch rpms won't drop or flare up by much. You want to really drive into the clutch, not dump it and bog the motor.

Your eventual aim is clutch fully out and throttle against the stop by the 60' mark.

Start launching at 5k and work your way up till wheelies, then come back 500.

I used to leave at 8k on my Gixy thou. But I'm a fatty.

Haha thanks heaps for that mate. I knew I had to lean forward and ride the clutch to some extent but that's detailed as hell and helps out alot. Its a different ball game to launching cars but so much funner on a bike I rekon.

I know I wasnt nearly giving it enough cause it wasnt even tryin to lift the front wheel but on the street its always trying to pick the front up.
