Typo. He means 0.8mm. The NJK brand spark plugs should be BKR, BRK or something similar to that for the BFs, not FR16 like the BAs. The coilpacks are easy to replace. Make sure you buy genuine Ford coils as the aftermarket ones aren't as good.

What is the best brand and version of plugs that I should buy (Please be specific)?

And they should be gapped to .8mm? What does Ford recommend, and if it is other than .8mm what benefit will changing to this figure bring?

Sorry for being pedantic, but I haven't worked on any car for ages. However being constantly screwed over by expensive mechanics who claim greatness but offer incompetence and mediocrity, has forced me back on the tools.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get a BF workshop manual that includes the XR6T? There is BA version on CD on ebay for $7 but would prefer the BF if it exists.

The cd on ebay should have ba/bf barra4/barra4t/boss260/boss290 etc

.8mm plugs should be fitted before a tune because the extra boost could blow the spark out if using std 1.1 gap

ford can sell you typhoon plugs with a .9mm gap which will also work great.

I don't know why ford did it but ba says 1.1, bf says .9 and fg says 1.1mm

maybe they found fuel consumption was worse with the .9 gap and went to 1.1 again. I really don't know.

I think you will be right with either.
