Trumpy, YCL or Basher TSV or any one else, I need some advice. got my guage and fitted it (record time I think, 20mins ) normally I am not that good at this sort of stuff but it was easy.

However I seem to have alot of noise from the engine bay. More louder turbo noise than anything, it sounds like the insulation has been removed it is quite loud. When it's not on boost it's quiet, it's just when it comes on the turbo whoooshing sound is very loud (like I am running big boost 15psi). The guage is going to about 7 psi, and flickering badly.

I have spoken to luke he is going to try and fix the flickering, but he does not know about the noise. Had anyone else noticed their car now being louder?

I have reapplied teflon tape to the T peice but that has made no difference.

Besides that I love the guage it's fantastic and looks straight out of the factory. :hrmm:

Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions?

Hi JB

Well one of two people in this thread have mentioned a slight increase in engine noise, but I'm adamant that I haven't had this.

Suggestions:

1. Make sure the rubber grommet went back into place properly. If it's really loud, the grommet sliipping out of the hole is the only thing I could imagine would cause that.

2 Make sure that tube is a tight fit in the hole you made in the grommet - if not, apply Vik's mastertool (silicone) (hi -temp black)

3 Make sure the tube isn't under undue tension.

4 If all else fails, look for unrelated, coincidental cause.

Mine wavers a tiny bit on the boost side only. Rock steady on the vacuum side. Really doesn't bother me, but I'm a bit curious about the reason.

Cheers

zeke

Yeah will check that out Zeke, even though the only thing it may be out of your suggestions are undue pressure on the hose.

Mine is a manual, hence I put the tube straight through the grommet in between the two pipes, it just went straight through.

May be a silicone job! :gooff:

I would love to see if any of the other guys have had the same prob

:gooff:

No serious increase in noise on mine - however when giving it the boot I can hear the hiss more than factory (but that is all good).

Sits on about 6psi on boost with not much flicker at all.

Hope you sort it out - it must be noticeably louder becaus I think it is fine. Cheers, B. :)
