Boost Gauge (fairmont Clock)

I have been told (email) that my problem may be as simple as a loose pointer that can happen from time to time. To get the pointer refitted and recalibrated the cost of an instrument repair shop will be around $50 ..... Is there warranty on these guages ?

I don't mind paying postage to get mine back to them but shouldn't they supply a replacement ? Thoughts anyone? I plan on calling them later today hopefully.

Id be Bashing them for asking $50.what a bloody cheek.they sound like junk anyway,To many probs for my liking.

Add up all the neg posta then the positive ones,and see wich one wins, chopsticks anyone?

Well Luke is sending me a new gauge and cover as a changeover as mine has a slight sticky spot. I seriously doubt there was any suggestion of charging for repairs to Basher's gauge as I hope he can confirm.

The gauges aren't junk! If you try to do something different to putting in a standard aftermarket boost gauge in a generic pod (that will always look tacked-on and a bit ricey) there are inevitably some teething troubles. This is/will be a great product when a few minor issues are sorted out. The paint colour has probably been rectified. Basher's gauge has a problem and mine tends to be a bit "sticky" in one spot on the vacuum side - it's a minor problem at most and will be replaced.

I'm just glad someone is putting the effort into developing what a lot of us obviously want.

No probs here. I'm very happy with my gauge! It's slightly lighter however only really noticable from certain angles in certain light. Having said this, I look forward to the propper colour match they are looking into. No sticky spots or any problems like that. The only thing that I don't really like is the fact that at idle and under no load the gauge sits at about 14.5-15psi then swings clockwise through 0. I think I would prefer it to start from zero.

If the gauge started at zero, then it would only be a boost gauge. As it is, it functions as a vacuum gauge as well (albeit only marked to -10inHg) Mine generally sits at 7 o'clock at idle, representing about 17inHg vacuum and moves towards zero as power is increased and vacuum decreases. On boost, of course it goes past zero in a clockwise direction.

The needle on my gauge tends to "stick" slightly between 3 and 4 o'clock (say about 12inHg vacuum) , unsticking with a sudden movement when the vacuum moves higher or lower than that.

Even with that minor glitch (which will be fixed), I would prefer it read vacuum as well as boost. Otherwise, it would spend too much time with nothing to do! - can't keep it on boost all the time while trundling thru the city in peak hour.

Thanks Zeke. I realise that it is also measuring vac however mine is the 15psi gauge which does not have a scale for vac like the 10psi job does. Looking clockwise from 15psi to 0psi there is just a blank so it looks a little bit strange. :)

I'm on boost more often than not so it wouldn't bother me if it stayed at zero! :D Hmmmmm....now for some more power....

Yes the 15PSI gauge is a bit odd, that's why I went with the 10.

Speaking of which the last 2 assured me they would deposit the money yesterday so I paid for them all last night. Bank balance looked very healthy yesterday, a bit sad this morning. :(

They should be sent to me by friday, I will get them by tuesday, send them off again on wednesday and you will be installing them next weekend.

Just had a chat with Luke and he told me he was in the process of piecing together another 12 guages. They are running tight with stock! Good news is that he will repair mine on warranty and replace the panel to the closer matched paint - I just have to return mine first. I am still a bit concerned as to how I will seal the tubes that will come off the back of the guage though ... :/
