That system sounds great. It's exactly what I would have done had I not have gotten this freebie system from the dealer.

What about headsets? Have you IR's or have you wired them in.

The IR headsets on mine are brilliant but they are a $250 replacement if my kids magle them. I was wondering if any of the shelf standard IR headset would work or could be tuned to the existing system?

Sounds like xrdreaming could answer your question. As he said, he's put an inverter in his system to step up the car's 12v DC to 240V AC to suit the PS2 without modification. This is the best bet because it won't then require you to modify your PS2 and void the warranty.

On the other hand, if you want to skip the inverter and save a few buck (but void the wty on the PS2) then here's my 2 cents worth...

I'm not familiar with the PS2 but would imagine it has an internal power supply like my XBox that feeds it's internal electronics that require 5v and or 12v. So all you'd need to do is identify the outputs from the PS2's power supply and feed that into the unit. At worst case you'd need to step down the car's 12v to 5v which won't be hard.

Mine had bad interference though only audio, Ford since fitted a suppressor which has gotten rid of 90% of the noise, there is a slight engine noise but unless the volume is quite high you dont hear it.

Hi Chris

Thanks mate. Pics are up now. Are you thinking of going for a DVD?

This one is a "Batton". Never heard of the brand  but I'm sure if you shop around, you can probably get something that suits you. I'd rate mine as a 5/10 for aesthetics when the unit is closed and an 7/10 when opened and viewed from the driver's side. If I had my choice (ie I was paying for it) then I would have tried to get a white screen unit with built in DVD head unit (instead of in the boot) and something a little more rounded like the rex. BUT the 8" screen woops the rex IMHO.

I haven't seen the headsets for the Rex but these ones they gave me are awesome. Sooo comfy and they even adjust to a little kid's head. Only problem is you have to remember to switch off the headsets otherwise you toast a set of AAA's. I'll certainly have to invest in some rechargeables.

I think my only complaint is that the screen unit is so big that the baseplate doesn't sit flush againts the ceailing at the front (windscreen side). This is because the sedan's ceiling actually curves a little. The installer warned me about it. I decided I'd get some suitable trim and slip it in betweel to fill the few millimetres gap instead of letting someone with dirty fingers do it to me new white ceiling.

The other issue is that when in use, the 8" screen is smack bang in the middle of my view from the rear vision mirror. I can still see lots either side but only about 25% of normal view below the folded down screen. Not a prob though... because my kids will never be in the car and using the DVD when I'm driving the car in such a manner that requires me to watch my tail.
