Since the recent meet at Calder where the APS ute's auto was destroyed, Peter is currently in the process of new R & D for another upgrade for the auto. Although the current upgrade was good for around 400kw@rear wheels it's a fare assumption the next upgrade should surpass that figure. In one of his recent posts he mentioned he will provide new information once the new parts for the upgrade have been tested and he has more technical information and reliability.

So is this upgrade available now? If yes how much and what is done? There aren't many here who are worried about Auto's for 400+rwkw, but up to 400rwkw would be great! :ta:

I'm sure both APS , Nizpro and their transmission rebuilders have got their thinking caps on and thinking real hard cause it aint going to be easy putting 400+rwkw thru that transmission reliably. I'm sure over time the BTR 4sp trans will be developed but I can see them putting in something like a 2 speed powerglide or a Tremec 5sp for a short term cure.

Apparently the BTR is a naturally strong box?

I remember Maserati were using it for their Auto in the 3.2 litre Twin Turbo 3200GT a few years ago as it was the only one that could easily cope with the power and torque delivery of that motor?

Can any one confirm?

But I know there is ALOT of difference between 280KW and 470Nm at the fly and 400+KW and the appropriate torque (anybody know what that figure is APPROXIMATELY?) at the REAR WHEELS!!!!!!!

Will be testing new auto upgrades next week the trick is to find a cost effective modification that will cope with around 700 Nm of torque, and still change gears smoothly, its an issue well worth sorting.

So at what point would the auto upgrade be recommended? phase 2, 3 or 4. Or would you suggest the auto should be upgraded even after phase 1, to be on the safe side.

It will mainly depend on the driver and the application. And it may be that we have a number of upgrades for different torque levels, the phase 3 system will need the auto upgrade for sure and the phase 2 would also benefit from quicker gear changes. should have much more info within the three weeks. will keep you posted on the progress.
