Ingear Vibration - Engine Mounts, Which Ones!

I posted this on fordforums too, but figured might get some more turbo related hits here :)

I've got a 07 BFii XR6T with 191,000km on it now. Mild tune/tweaks (290rwkw).

It's slowly been developing some vibration at idle when in gear. It's fairly minor warm but quite noticeable when cold and slowly getting worse.

My guess is it's the engine mounts perhaps? Anyone agree?

Looking into this from Fraud $320 is the cost for a single XR6T mount, where as a normal BF mount is $130 or abouts. That's a massive difference!. From what I've researched the only difference seems to be some straps that run over and around the mount. Surely can be made by ones self (coated wire?) or re using the original ones?

Other options are Transgold or Mackay mounts, $40-$54 here. Mackay lists non turbo only, Transgold the same for both.

Kelpro (@repco) do non turbo for $125 and turbo for $146, however their turbo ones have no straps and appear identical. I rang Motospecs and they couldn't tell me the difference. (could just be 'scam' the turbo owner?).

I'm not paying $320 for genuine, it's a Falcon not some euro spec machine FFS! lol.

Not sure if I should go Genuine atmo and put my straps on it, or just try the Mackay mounts (cheap option) with the straps.

Or if the Kelpro Turbo ones are actually beefed up (non visually), getting them and adding the factorys straps could be the ultimate?

Any experiences?

I have exactly the same issue with mine. What did you end up buying and did the vibration go away after they were installed?

Get underneath the car and look for any cracks or leaking from the mounts themselves.

Usually you can tell which one it is from simply stalling up the car in gear while braking.

Might be worth checking transmission mounts and exhaust hangers too before shelling out for mounts.

If its the turbo side engine mount there is a good chance you may have to take off the turbo to get to the mount.

yes sounds like the turbo side mount is bad...mine was f*cked cusieng steering wheel to vibrate extreamly bad.

as for mounts I was the same and found out that!

Mackay dont list a turbo munt, however I was sent a couple cheap to test out by simon that works there, so far I have had no dramas with it.

Kelpro are over priced,

the ford ones have the same part numbers on them (the mount itself) just have straps over them

and transgold is confusing as some of there ctalogs say turbo ones are the same as non turbo and some say there not........

like I said the nmon turo ones are going great on mine, I just reused old straps

recently had a territory in the shop that the owner was complaining about the roughness at idle, we diagnosed it to engine mounts, the owner told us that they had already been replaced elsewhere, we were still sure it was mounts and the owner agreed for us to replace them, which we did using genuine mounts, the problem was gone, not sure what brand the other shop had fitted but they were the cause of the problem.
