Guys, I was just wondering which would you go for and why ? I was speaking with my Tailshaft builder today and he mentioned that he would go with a 1 piece as it would be lighter and improve throttle response. He also said that it wouldn't vibrate like some people think it would.

Some guys will tell you that a one piece shaft is too long for our cars, but a well built one piece can work well on the falcon if built right.

I'm sure I know who you are talking about Steven and he has been doing this for a very long time and considered one of the best in the buisness.

I thought it was a no brainer as well until this afternoon when I spoke to him. As Rednose mentioned, he is considered one of the best in the business and has stated that I can try both and see which I prefer which is why I brought the question up.

Its about critical speed. As tailshaft length increases the critical speed decreases and at the one piece length it is in its critical zone. But in saying that guys are using them with no problems but still gotta be built with the right size materials.

Wiki to my rescue!

All rotating shafts, even in the absence of external load, will deflect during rotation. The unbalanced mass of the rotating object causes deflection that will create resonant vibration at certain speeds, known as the critical speeds.

Vibrating shafts are for girls, not cars.
