The car (bf2) has been in my garage with a hdi cooler fitted for a while now. Looking at doing injectors, exhaust,tune and pump. Problem is the tuner I used on my last car has moved and the bloke I just spoke to doesn't seem too interested/helpful. (He's got a rep as a good tuner but average bloke). I explained I was only after average power (270-300rwkw tops). I suggested a walbro in tank upgrade and he told me the in tanks have problems with overheating and to go a PW surge tank. The price difference is about $700. Do I need this or will the walbro do the job easily and SAFELY? Keeping in mind I don't flog the snot out of it too often. If its wise to spend the extra I will but I've read about plenty of people running that power on in tanks with no problems. Any car with over 300rwkw can have issues with surging especially if you let the tank get low and decide to give her some.I was in the same boat. Going to spend $300 for an intank pump with cradle or $1150 for new PW kit with walbro 460. Decided to go with the PW cause I couldn't be effed fueling up ever half a tank and for the extra $700-800 I have security that when a clubby wants to go you from a set of lights you don't have to check your fuel and decide not to smash him because your fuels too low lol 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Keeping in mind I don't flog the snot out of it too often.Im happy to spend the $ if necessary but would like some opinions.CheersOur advice would be a properly set up direct replacemant intank system .When utilised as a package with a high flow regulator, correct wiring/.relay kit you will have no supply or surging issues well over 350 rwkw on a single pump or 600rwkw on a twin.Completly legal, no noise or smells of the many external set ups.Keep in mind that the currant 5.0 s/c GT at standard rear wheel power is anywhere from 300-345 rwkw.This vehicle has no surge or supply issues even at near empty.Ford did not use an external surge tank set up!Currant U.S Mustangs with over 500 hp all use intank single pump or twin pump set ups.These systems work perfectly when supplied and fitted correctly.
