Blynch55 Member 7 Member For: 12y 4m 6d Posted 20/03/13 12:14 AM Share Posted 20/03/13 12:14 AM So I'm about to sell my e46 m3 and want something that will basically cost less to maintain but it still fun to drive and on a similar level. I originally was going to be sensible and get a relatively new XR6T but for similar money I can get a 09-10 F6 but they have between 70,000-100,000kms on them. My budget is around the $37k mark. Basically how reliable are these cars? I am a noob to ford, I know my BMWs but over the $$$ they cost to keep up, in the last year I've spent almost $7k on my M3 so it's time to let her go. Anything I should be looking out for in particular? Or is it worth sticking to a 2012-13 XR6T instead? Either way which ever car I go will have light mods, probably go as far as a tune, exhaust and maybe injectors but that's about it. Thanks for the help guys. I bought a 2010 xr6t with 101500km, runs fine :D 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/84340-looking-at-buying-a-fg-f6-but-has-high-kms/#findComment-1373163 Share on other sites

Impellor Member 835 Member For: 14y 8m 27d Gender: Not Telling Posted 20/03/13 01:34 AM Share Posted 20/03/13 01:34 AM Personally I like to get hold of cars with no more than 50,000k's. I always buy stock standard, that way you know you have got a reasonably good starting base. However, when buying any car that doesn't have a factory warranty, get it on a hoist. Look for engine oil leaks, transmission and diff. Check diff for pinion and axle seal leaks in particular. Check all bushes for wear and distortion. Also if it doesn't have a service record that's up to date, I steer clear. And yes M class BMW's are very expensive items to maintain, as nothing is cheap to replace. I'm sure you will find the Ford product much easier on your financial resources. Be patient, become educated and all will end well. Personally it took me 7 months to find the right car. Also buy a manual, more engaging for street duty, and a more reliable longer term option, and resale. Blynch55 Member 7 Member For: 12y 4m 6d Posted 20/03/13 01:54 AM Author Share Posted 20/03/13 01:54 AM yeah all the ones on carsales right now are in the high 30s for a 09 with around 70,000kms plus. Unfortunatly im in NSW so there isnt many good deals like there are in SA and WA for example :(Yeah the M3 has been a great car but paying $1500-2000 for a service is taking its toll. Im leaning more towards the f6 because of the FPV badge and overall I feel I would be happier with it. Does anyone know anyone in Sydney who are good with these cars that could do a PPI for me, or would a ford dealer be the best option? And yeah service history is a must, plus id do a complete inspection and fluid change when I have it just to make sure its all good.A personal opinion from you guys, are F6 owners finding it hard to sell etc? Would be nice to get an idea of what the market is like for FPVs as it gives a buyer more room to haggle lol. I know the M3 market is poor right now, my car is worth about 36-38k however will be letting it go for around 32k.Thanks again guys looking forward to owning one of these Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/84340-looking-at-buying-a-fg-f6-but-has-high-kms/#findComment-1373185 Share on other sites
