The dollar used to be the excuse, now that we are equal/better than the USD it's BS.. we are just being ripped off and there's a lot of ppl making a killing off us. You also can't argue that we have higher wages and earn more blah blah blah.. more bs, we are buying something in foreign currency, if it says it costs 1USD you shouldn't magically pay $3-5 AUD for the pleasure of said item over someone in the US. Your 1 USD is as good as uncle sams (better really ) Shipping costs no more here either, especially like in the example above where a wrx sti comes from japan. I actually read an interesting article a few years ago about the changes in global transportation costs... basically to transport via sea anywhere in the world costs approx the same, the costs just change once they reach land and go via rail or truck, but on the whole transport via sea long ago reached the point where the cost reduced to an equivalent amount. It can even be cheaper to ship around a continent then to go the shortest sea route and then transport across land.
