Assuming it's the same process as it is currently, vehicle is always impounded regardless of who owns it. But for forfeiture I'm not sure what the go is, or the encumbered debt if it's sold at auction or something.

I propose tougher driving rules for incompetent driving.

For example.

Doing 55 in a 80 zone.

Tailgating.

Undertaking large vehicles on corners

Automatically doing 50 under when it starts drizzling.

I think to pass your licence u should be taken on a skid pan and thought how to control a vehicle properly. Also u should have to do testing with a trailer regardless of weather or not u will use one.

The best idea that I've seen floating around is that every time you see someone do something inconsiderate in in contravention of any road rule, take note of their rego plate and call the hoon hotline.

13HOON (13 4666) - put it in your phone and make use of it. I certainly will be.

I hate that hoon hotline.. I was so tempted to use it to dob in a couple arse heads around my neighbourhood. But when I went to the web page it asks if you would be willing to appear in court..

That to me said they'd consider pressing charges against the bastards based on my testimony.. I could see that being abused so I didn't use it on principle..

But I guess using it to dob in every law breaker is different to just dobbing in loud cars.

Here in the nanny state, VicPol take the offender to court and use you (the hoon hotline dobber) as their witness. The offender needs to prove their innocence. Game, set and match.

I'm half tempted to set up a camera and catch the pricks that do burnouts at the T intersection just up from our house, late at night.

If that works Bonjaz I am doing it.

‘Wilfully starting a motor vehicle or driving a motor vehicle in a way that makes unnecessary noise or smoke’ = 90 day impound

Good luck anyone with a carby, cams and cold morning.

The problem is the previous government was so sh*t they got wiped-out, the opposition consists of half a dozen vs. 80-odd in government. Also no upper house so they can pretty much do whatever the fck they want.

Also they passed unexplained wealth laws last week so they can now have a look at your assets and you have to be able to show how you have paid or acquired them. Not sure where it will end.

Might have to move to NZ...can't be too many left over there.
