BTC Member 8 Member For: 13y 6m Posted 12/03/13 10:20 AM Share Posted 12/03/13 10:20 AM Currently have a skyline and looking for a family car so been seriously considering a fg xr6t manual and doing the following:- f6 injectors- intercooler piping - cat pipe- tune Hoping that would get to about 290rwkwUnfortunately I took a GTR for a test drive on the weekend so everything now seems slow.Test drove an autoFG F6 310kw Today which I wasn't that impressed with. Main idea of testing that was as I thought it may be similar to a moded xr6t Can anyone give me a view on those sorts of mods for an xr6t and whether it should be much better than the f6? I'm in Brisbane so if anyone knows of a tuner that may have a demo car or something ? Or any other ideas on seeing what a moded one is like. Many thanks

What weren't you impressed with?

If it was the current version I am not surprised at performance or build quality - but it is no family car and insurance is horrendous.

The xr has a smaller turbo so has quicker spool so you feel it more whereas the F6 has a bigger turbo and lags just a bit more then goes harder through the top on. BTC Member 8 Member For: 13y 6m Posted 13/03/13 09:30 AM Author Share Posted 13/03/13 09:30 AM Thanks guys.Yes it was an r35 gtr so it is a purpose built performance machine (totally different animal).. As you say not much room in back seat at all. I Will probably end up getting an xr6t and doing the above. .. It was quick but with the auto and being a heavy car didn't feel that engaging. But they are a good car to live with on a daily basis. Maybe the manual may appeal to me more. Budget is about 3k or so. Planning to use f6 injectors

As you know, another 90KW will really be felt.3K should do it in terms of injectors / airbox / cat / tune. FG owners might also recommend intercooler and pipe upgrades and given the range now available....... IMO I'd do it. That might see your budget stretched but it seems to be money well spent.Manual/auto........ I'm staying out of that one.
