^^^Great read Jet, awesome info.

Few questions guys:-

1. How did you guys go with buying and installing the BMW ZF pan and any pics would be great for referral

2. Was it hard to I'm stall for ZF.

3. Also I am thinking of flushing our manual 6 speed BF Turbo what oil do you guys recommend and use ?

If I do myself I'll take some pics. :)

You can get the pan from ebay. Comes with filter etc. The filter is not part of the metal pan like it is for the plastic pan. It is a little tricky to fit the metal pan with the seperate filter but just take your time when doing so

Jet uses Gulf western SYNTRAS and if it wasn't for jets feed back on it I would have never of thought about Gulf Western.

Ive done the best part of 2500kms since doing the service, pan install and tranny cooler install and the transmission has been faultless

The only thing that you really require to fit the pan is torx bits (similar to hex or allan keys) I used the torx bit with a cordless drill purely due to the sheer number that hold the pan on. Made removing and re fitting the pan much quicker

Yep did PWR heat exchanger and GW Syntrans on the weekend. Dropped and filled oil twice with 20L, Still have enough to do again. Car runs perfect and we cant notice any difference. Ralph Wiggum got the oil for me at a steal.

What's the lowest km car you've done to date Jet. I had my FG done with syntrans and external cooler with 90,000kms and it didn't feel any better at all and I actually feel a slight flare on 2nd to 3rd when stone cold. Gearbox doesn't feel that bad but its nowhere near as smooth as my dad's BF gt with 50,000kms on stock oil.

How much oil are using for a flush? The shop used about 13-14L to do my flush, sound right?

I've still got the rest of the oil, if I buy the above the thermostat is it possible to check myself that it's all good?

Our car has 60K. Oil came out a dark red. Each time you fill and flush is about 4.5L. I used a temp gun on the sump. Put the fill bung back in at 40c. A draid plug in the sump would make it so much easier. I have a bluetooth scan tool but the trans temp didnt come up. Its Forscan software with I think ELM 327.

We just done a fg xr6t with 27,000kms on the clock and yes because iam looking for a before and after I do notice it smoother at light throttle

The older the oil the better the shift quality after a service with syntrans but as I have stated many times we do fill and drain x3 times and a fourth if I feel it needs it
