Hey Guys,

My standard clutch is on its way out, 2003 BA XR6T car has 124K clicks on it roughly, has T5 manual, can anyone recommend a good heavy duty clutch and someone who can fit it?

Also once the clutch is replaced, how many kms need to be driven under 3000rpms until can drive the car normally again?

Cost for replacement/upgrade is number one here too :)

Cheers

Big Rob

normally good and cheap are not used in the same sentence.

a heavy duty clutch is not a wise move with the 5 speed as your gearbox then becomes the weak point.

maybe you should let us know what area you are located in so others can point you in a direction.

Yeah that is true, you pay for what you get, but I just mean best bang for buck. Valid point with putting additional stress on the T5 :( I won't really be dropping the clutch (I.e. at 4000rpms) and doing many burnouts etc, just want smooth gear changes and quick take off's, so the gears won't stick anymore.

My mechanic said around $600 for a decent heavy duty clutch fitted and he is generally pretty good, along with owning a couple high powered XR6T's he's pretty switched on.

I'm in Cheltenham, Melbourne

Thanks!

that is dirt cheap, but you need to find out what exactly you are getting.

You can speed upwards of $1600 for a quality complete clutch and then have to pay for labour to have it fitted. Normally they would include Clutch plate, pressure plate, new flywheel, new flywheel to crank bolts, new pressure plate bolts, new spiggot bearing and new aloy CSC.

You need to ask exactly what you will be getting

Do not reuse the plastic CSC, get an alloy one.

The 5 speed break quite easily, not from even dumping the clutch or flat changing, but from acceleration through the gears, they shafts struggle to handle stock ppower, let alone any decent power from a tune
