OW, that's gotta hurt, nice big intercooler too (in the correct postition as well!)

Talked with a Subaru dealer the other day, he reckons the intercooler is better on top of motor rather than where this one is (same as ours).

He reckoned it was better because it didn't pick up the heat from the road but when I said somthing to the effect that the one on top of the engine, as in the WRX and Legacy etc, would pick up heat from the engine he said "not when moving".

I should have thought about it a bit more but hasn't it got to be better with a flat surface to the front I.e. vertical rather than closer to horizontal, so as to catch more air???

I'm thinking that he braked and got rid of most of his speed before the impact... and then the wall got rid of the rest of the speed for him.

At least he lived through the experience and will hopefully learn from his mistake.
