Stigmata Donating Members 235 Member For: 11y 10m 9d Gender: Male Posted 25/02/13 09:05 AM Author Share Posted 25/02/13 09:05 AM Wow, Simon learnt from the old street tuna LMAO. I remember Martin from the old Fueltronics days. Yes was a bit perplexed about who to tune it in SA, I deal with Simon a fair bit at work and he seems to be getting some good results. I think tuning is one of those things, you go for a drive in your mates car who MR X tuned and it rattles its head off, then you hear storys about someone else having drama's with another tuner. From passed experiances with other tuners I was very happy with the amount of care and detail Simon put in. I would love to have a go myself someday but I would be worried sick I might stuff up a VE table or timing somehow LOL. I will stick to welding Hmmmm, got me wondering about the GTX35/76 now. The stock 35/76 has some nice punch from low but seems to lack a bit at top. I spoke with old mate Bill from ATS about the GTX 76 and he reckons it flows as much as the standard 82? I might give Bruce a call apparantly he has done a few? I just know I will end up wanting more, always happens LOL Thanks for you advice bud Kind regards Jon

Yep those were the days doing chips on the Camiras, Delco crazy!! haha. Wonder what ever happened with Julian Edgar aswell? I remember he did a test injecting oxygen from an oxy cylinder into a Camira on the Dyno LMAO! Thanks bud you just made my night that bit brighter. Damn Im feeling real old now I am half tempted to fit the R656 from my EB, its about the same as a GTX4094 with billet comp wheel etc. Heres a pic of the setup I done on my mates with the same snail, I reckon Bruce ended up tuning that one. I just built his manifold, fitted the gate and turbo, it was a bit of a piggy engine bay. Have a good one bud, thanks again for the laughs. Will keep you posted Kind regards Jon
Stigmata Donating Members 235 Member For: 11y 10m 9d Gender: Male Posted 28/03/13 10:28 AM Author Share Posted 28/03/13 10:28 AM Hi everyoneMy appologies for not being online and updating the build. I had some bad luck a month or so back on the way into work when a roo jumped in front of my G6. Only just got it back from the crash repairer last week. Needed new bonnet, left gaurd, headlight etc, etc. Positive outcome was a XR8 bonnet was fitted and I bought some 20" Dark Argent reps with 9.5" 275 rears. Hooks up much better now So now onto the fun stuff, I will post pics as I go. Will start building the exhaust first, then fab a batt reloction tray and R/H cold air box in readyness for the GTX.here are a couple of pics of her nowTake care allKind regards Jon

Your G6 looks great with the bonnet!Im getting all these flashbacks aswell with the likes of fueltronics and julian edgar being mentioned. Back in early VL turbo days he was one of the 1st guys mucking around with them.. I had one so youd try and get as much info as you could. He was definitely left field in his thoughts.. some things worked..others didnt..Im also curious about using the GTX76..... Stigmata Donating Members 235 Member For: 11y 10m 9d Gender: Male Posted 28/03/13 10:31 PM Author Share Posted 28/03/13 10:31 PM Thanks Jimmixr, I am pretty happy with the bonnet and wheels. Changed the whole look of the car, even the Mrs likes it now which is amazing, as its pretty rare that she like anything at all!! LOL When I got it back from the crashies with the bonnet I thought I better get some wheels cause it looked rather limp with the 18" factory alloys!! yep its been awhile since I was reading about playing with different early EFI systems. Starting to feel real old at 40 now :( shame cause I still feel 18 inside, its just the body doesnt anymore! haha. Things have changed so much from my early days of playing with Clevos. I am waiting to hear back from someone who is getting a 76GTX tuned in the next couple of weeks. Also a mate in NZ who has come up with a bolt on upgrade using a billet 92mm comp wheel which should be intresting. Might give him a call next week. I will see what the results are then make my descision. In the mean time I have a bit of fab work to get done on the G6, in between the Mrs cracking the whip to get stuff built around the house....damn it! take care kind regards Jon
jimmixr Donating Members 686 Member For: 14y 3m 4d Posted 29/03/13 06:40 AM Share Posted 29/03/13 06:40 AM Im definitely interested to see the results of the 76...Im so ready to move on the next round of mods but Ive stalled on the turbo. Yeh alot of people say its a no brainer..go the 82.. but after chatting to so many turbo shops/suppliers its only confused me more.Back to the early day.. My 1st mods to my then year old VL turbo was a new cam from a normally aspirated Nissan skyline GTS and a matched fuel tronic chip. The skyine cam had more lift with the same overlap.. bit more boost and a gutted cat ..It was all early sneaky Group E racing tricks.. It was definitely quick for its day...still miss it to be honest..
