Hi Guys

Ok so I rotated the tailshaft 180deg and it seems much, much better. I will have to have a sus on the rollers as I don't really want to try and check vibration at excessive speeds, but it seems fine at 100kmph. Kinda strange as this leads me to believe the shaft wasn't balanced properly to begin with? Oh just saw in previous post I said 1150 unis LOL They are 1350 units, few beers will do that! :mosking:

So its off to the dyno this week and will try and fine tune the tailshaft balance at Ford

Kind regards Jon

Re Final Drive Engineering. No - nothing said about the carbon fibre unit. He mentionned the Ford shaft because I have an old oz skyline used as a run-around and the shaft from that was in for a fix-up {after another place did the CV in that - and it still vibrated. }

Hi Everyone

Well I got my tail shaft sorted and we hit the rollers today. First thing I noticed was power was down slightly from last time I was there, I believe due to having 20" wheels rather than the 18s it was first tuned with. Next issue was target boost was 22psi but it falls to 15psi? Hmmmm, its either the 76 being out of its efficiency zone or the 8psi can? I will try and fit a 12psi can a bit later down the track and see how it holds boost. The 8psi can was recommended to me as it will have better throw out to control boost. Its a shame as it would have made a better top end power figure if boost could stay up there. We got 355kw on 98 and then 401.2rwkw on E85. I would think we should see another 10 or so more kw once the boost issue is stable.

Heaps better power delivery now, will see how it goes down the quarter on sat. I have attached the dyno sheet too :)

Kind regards Jon

From what I have read around the forums, I am sure It would be out of it's efficiency zone. with the 76 series the more boost you try cram in low the less you will have in the top. On the GT version they max out at 357rwkw (E85) with ~ 17/18psi with 12/13 in the top. Those who tried to smash 20+ found they dropped further psi in top I.e. 8/9psi or worse. I would say the ratio for which your boost drops would be about right considering its the GTX version.

Still a good result though, mid range looks fun with that much torque.

Hey guys

Ok so went down the quarter yesterday, best so far was an 11.206 at 127.46mph. Feel im am being let down by the lack of two wheel traction, time for the true track to go in, single pegger G6 diffs just don't cut the mustard. A big congrats to Simon at Morpowa for his 10.05sec pass in the F6 and to Paul for his 10.3 pass and Jarrad with the 11.1 on normal street tyres LOL well done :)

Kind regards Jon

Well done Jon

Retain the bottom end punch of the factory turbo and still be knocking on the door of a 10 second quarter..

To me that would have to be a near perfect balance..

10's are definitely the new 11.. but I think were all taking for granted just how quick a true 11second vehicle is ...

What tyres did your run?

Hey Jim

Thanks bud :) Yep its pretty close to a 10, I haven't run a quarter for 15 odd years LOL. I think it will get there pretty easy, the MPH says it will too. It is quick, I remember back in the day a 13 second car was quick and something running 11's was absolutely mental! Now its just average. The strip was the first time I opened her up so it was a bit of a surprise LOL. I am really happy with the 76, well for now

I ran on 235/50/15 et streets I borrowed but they were only on a 6" rim which made it a bit skatey towards the end of the track. I lifted quite a few times because of it. Next outing I will get some 275/40/17 and some 9" rims and a true trac. Although it would be nice to run a 10 with the open pegger LOL

Kind regards Jon

yeah I think I could do a fair bit more to get her into the 10's. I was running with a full tank of fuel and just had the auto in drive. I tried manual shifting but went slower (11.4) as I kept hitting the limiter LOL. It was just a basic few runs to see how everything went. Will go in harder next time. Will try shifting at around 4800rpm with quart a tank and see how we go.

The 60 foot times were 1.77 (11.2) to 1.902 (11.5) :)

Kind regards Jon
