Pwr Are Designing A New Zf Trans Cooler

Spoke to a couple transmission places here in SA regarding the PWR vs. External cooler. One place in particular mentioned he had seen the PWR unit fail resulting in a milkshake and he recommended an external cooler to completely eliminate the risk. No further details sorry and unsure of reliability.

This is totally incorrect. NONE of our PWR Heat Exchanger units have failed.

It is very sad to see a transmission shop dragging our reputation through the dirt so he can make a sale on whatever brand external transmission oil cooler he has on the shelf.

Im not willing to say the shops name sorry guys as I was put on to them by a family friend mechanic and wouldn't want it to come back to me. They weren't willing to fit an external cooler themselves as he wasn't willing to put it behind the foglight and had concerns about its fitment at the front. Hence why I'm taking it elsewhere to someone who has done it before and deals with fords regularly. I found that a little strange in its self, especially being a trans shop.

As I said however I'm unsure of their reliability as this is the first time I've delt with them. You would think that someone who has fitted the PWR kit has only done so because they are aware of the issues with the factory exchanger, and therefore if your kit was to fail you would be hearing about it quick smart.

Trying not to be harsh but this is bullsh*t!

if a part has a problem, it needs to be sorted out, but to bag a product with no proof is crap, actually it's probably slander. People need to be accountable for what they post, if Towsw001 names the shop or person that told him, then the blame can be moved to that person, but posting and

then not passing on the details, then the blame lies with him.

Well I'll happily take the blame then. I have nothing to gain from 'slandering' the PWR exchanger, if they were cheaper and I wasn't so broke atm id probably consider fitting it over the external coolers as I've also read the concerns about dropping the trans temps too low and its been a pain in the arse to find someone to fit them.

That being said I'd rather give you guys the information I've been told so you can make your own assessment. I also gave an honest assessment of their reliability so take it as a pinch of salt for all I care.

There is no real info you gave given.... Like why it failed? You have only said...I HAVE HEARD, maybe do abit of research before posting something YOU HAVE HEARD...

Mate I've got better things in my life to do than research the ins and outs of trans coolers and why they may or may not fail. As a customer I wanted to know what options were available and why it was the best option. I asked how much for them to supply and fit the PWR kit and they mentioned they had seen a milkshake occur even with these kits fitted and recommended an external cooler.

The strange thing is that they had my car for the day to fit an external cooler however when I returned they said they couldn't fit it because they were concerned for space at the front end. This was enough for me to begin to question the credibility and experience with the ZFs.

If this was a random shop I had called I would gladly hand over their details, however as I was put on to them by a good mechanic who also monitors these forums, I'd rather cover my own ass and not say anything. As I said the whole thing seems suss. Just posting what I have HEARD. Because no matter how much more I asked him, or researched, its still only ever going to be info I've HEARD.

This is not reliable information you are receiving. The owner of the car would have contacted PWR about the failed heat exchanger. And it would be in PWR's best interest to come clean if they in fact did have a failure. PWR is not a small company. They are worldwide and have a great reputation. Also given the fact these ZF heat exchangers are quite new I doubt its even the same item that is being discussed.

You should name the shop so they can be contacted by PWR to confirm the facts. Iam sure they want to know about one of their defective products.

In future if you don't wish to elaborate further on important issues like this, best you don't say anything at all.

I call bull$hit and shop just wants to fit there external cooler... Things don't add up... If it did milk shake the owner should have contacted PWR...as it's a new product and they would want to see why it happened.. Also owner of car could even bill PWR if it was found that the cooler was at fault so PWR could cover new auto... IF IT WAS THE PWR COOLER AT FAULT..

Maybe the shop just likes spinning a few yarns to new customers to get there business.
