I think it looks terrible running extra lines etc that low is asking for trouble barely sits higher then the chassis rail, why didn't they make a direct replacement cut OEM unit up take measurements make better quality and still charge $399 a piece.

I don't think height was an issue to be honest. If you tear it out you've probably just punched the pan also.

Stainless as well. 30 plate would probably be the closest to OEM. With a custom mount (stainless to make one for all of us ;)) and plumbing, could be done.

At $700+ install is it worth it?

I'm considering either replacing heat exchanger or going external cooler when I do my mods. Don't do track work and probably rarely will, is just bypassing the heat exchanger and running an external cooler going to be detrimental because temps for everyday driving will take a while to get up or is something like this PWR exchanger worth it?

F6Fury approached us to manufacture a heat exchanger to replace his existing OEM heat exchanger and we had done exactly that. The reason why we have taken so long to develop a solution to the milkshake problem was because we were reluctant to release a kit to the market due to the high cost. We already have a universal kit which has the traditonal air/oil trans cooler and billet adapters to go into the OEM 'quick release' fittings for those who will cough at the price of this new kit.

The OEM heat exchanger is flawed in design due to a few reasons. Firstly, the plate type design in it's nature, is a furnace brazed unit. This in itself can be a problem in getting the individual plates to 'fuse together' evenly in the manufacturing process and can lead to failures later on due to the constant expanding and contracting cycles which literally bends and flexs the joints to the point of cracking the bond. This is the reason why there are great variations in life expectancy of these units, because the manufacturing process isn't consistant. The reason why Ford and alot of the other OEM manufacturers use this design is simply due to COST. They are cheap and easy to manufacture, simple as that.

The second reason why we believe they are failing is due to harmonic vibrations from the engine, because they are solidly mounted to the oil pan.

The design of our heat exchanger is of tube and fin design, with thick wall extruded tubes carrying the coolant flow and turbulation fin in between to carry the oil flow. It is a proven design we have been using for many years in motorsport applications with great success. The core we are using was originally intended for engine oil cooling and features in some of our universal inline engine oil coolers.

The reason why the cost is so high for this unit, is because of the complexity of the internals and welding penetration to get a good seal. Add to that the cost of manufacturing in-house, the CNC billet transmission adapters which are then anodised and coupled to speedflow Dash -8 fittings and hose. All things which are contributing to final cost. There are no Chinese parts in our kit and all proudly 100% Australian made.

We have done some very brief testing on temperatures and we were very happy with results so far, but the F6Fury was keen to get his car back! So we will be relying on him to provide us with some more temp data when he tracks the car or pushes it a bit harder than what we did.

For those concerned about the lines sitting too low, there was at least 20mm above the bottom of the oil pan (which in itself is higher then the side skirts/rails) If you're going to tear a line off, then you've already done damage to your transmission..

It's great to hear from the manufacturer that produces things like this.... And kudos for using 100% Aussie Products. People complain things are expensive.... Then complain that everything is made in China..

That's right the more we support Aussie products the more r&d will go into bettering our cars

I have had a detailed look at the product lines,mounts etc and it looks great,I will do some datalogging on the temps on the road aswell on the Dyno and see how quick the temps are coming up from cold start and then maintaing a constant temp through different loads and road speeds,here are some more pics

^^^ 100% agree pazzo and as I said earler, it does look like a good thing. I trust that the product won't milkshake. We just need some data now to prove that it outperforms OEM.

How much % bigger is it than the standard OEM unit F6Fury or PWRCOOL ??

If it's Garantee'd it will not leak & milkshake then it's money well spent IMO, I'd be down for 1 once I can get some good feedback on operating temp's under heavy condition's etc, just so long as there is some sort of Garantee the unit will not leak AT ALL, otherwise I might aswell save coin and just replace original's every 50000k's...
